Why Samir Nasri was the perfect buy for us....

1) His departure (along with cesc's of course) has heavily weakened the creativity in this current arsenal team. Its absolutely incredible to think that just about this time last year, Arsenal were favourite for the title, but now they are almost a certainty to miss fourth spot. This move has tremendously reduced the threat of a title contender and one of the most brilliant attacking teams in the PL.

2) We prevented United from getting him causing them to have huge problems with creativity in their midfield. They have therefore, so often been forced to use their wingers as their primary form of attack play that just by nullifying them effectively or when they have an off-game, united just capitulate spectacularly. Examples of these would be the blackburn game (when nani was having a mare) and the newcastle game. This was also a primary reason for the culmination of the 6-1 as bobby identified this and made sure we negated their wingplay.

So we bought him so the rags couldn't?

And yes I'm a fan of Nasri.

well, it was either us or the rags because Samir had decided to leave Arsenal anyway, I believe. But watching today's match against swansea made me realise how much arsenal are missing him. Persie has to be the creater of his own goals 90% of the time, or as in today's case, he was playing the role of a play-maker for henry. The players around him just aren't good enough in the creating good attacking play around the box.

I think we will see the best of him this season. Don't forget he joined two weeks into the season, if he had done a preseason with us you would have seen the real Nasri.

People to quick to judge these days.

To be honest I think he is doing just fine for his 1st season with us, many of us have this unrealistic tendency to equate players with machines, take them out of the box wind them up and watch them go, it's really not like that it's very rare that a player does well in his first season especially when he has been at another club for so long.

It's one of the things that annoys me in the transfer forum, so many people thinking that this player or that is the answer to problem X.

The lad has an abundance of talent and will be a world class player come next season

NO.

By design, there are 11 world class players at any one time. Nasri is a long way from being in that team.

but the thing is we need him at his best now not next season! this is our chance to win the league!

I really rate Nasri. I think he's a cracking player, and if we're patient and get behind him, I reckon he'll prove it.

There's a world 11 and world class, different things.

I'm not sure he's world class having said that on current performance but like others have said, it's early days, give the lad a chance and lets judge this time next year.

Sorry not a fan, hides on the pitch flits in and out of games and massively overrated. Mata was the signing that made much more sense especially considering his familiarity with Silva from their Valencia days.
