Why So Blue?

Spending some time reading this forum this morning I'm staggered by the negativity about last night. I realise that it wasn't our best performance but equally we won, and taking into account the result that Juve got, the win last night no matter how we got it is huge.

I keep reading that we should be worried about the rags as well. Why? What is it in their form that is much more impressive than ours? Which players have they got who are better than ours? Their manager a better manager than ours?

And all the hanging our own players out to dry, slagging off all and sundry for being shit/naive/not good enough. Some people on here seem intent to slag anything and everything off at every opportunity. Makes the forum a fucking terrible place.

Too many fannys on here sometimes, if we win the chumps league and the title by 10 points, a fair few will still bitch about some aspects of it.

I ain't a Navas hater,but shone last night ? I don't think so

A few mazy runs but pretty poor crossing AGAIN

His crossing last night was excellent! He put at least 2 top quality crosses into the 6 yard box in the second half that just needed a forward to gamble on and we'd have scored. I thought he did pretty much everything we could have asked of him last night and was our best player.

My issue is that its the same old problems, we look like we could concede every time the opposition has an attack! Im sick of our spine always being injured too, im sick of the commentary and the press, im sick of David Cameron, im sick of deforestation and the mistreatment of our aquatic mammal cousins, im sick of the price of energy drinks, im sick of being sick of things, im sick of google+ and most of all im sick of new Simpsons episodes...

There were perhaps two other chances Sevilla had aside from the goal where it looked like they may score, the one that Otamendi blocked from Konoplyanka and Gameiro's header. We were nowhere near as bad as some are making out and they created fuck all after the hour mark when Kolarov came on which gave us better balance

Why is it ? They have won 2 out of 8 games in their TINPOT LEAGUE so they are a good side are they, scored 8 in 8 also,so at least they consistent in scoring 1 per game I suppose,I'll give you that

They have beaten Barca in the league this season and have a recent history of winning European trophys.

Can't think of another word to describe that post other than arrogant. Brushing aside teams like Seville? Give me strength.

When did they become fucking world beaters then ???? A few fucking Europa league wins and now they are the new Barca or Madrid, fucking grow up ffs

You see it's that attitude that will probably never leave someone like you,you have seen so many bad times like me over the years, but the fear of God is with you every match, thinking oh shit we gonna lose today, you will probably think it next week v Palace in league cup as well.

It's about time you started to feel more positive on match days, you started this thread by saying how you cannot believe what's being said,it's probably down to the fact that they don't have the fear of God in them anymore

I'm just looking for a bit of balance. We weren't great last night, but we won. Personally I thought we were actually poorer against Gladbach, but we won that match in the last minute too. The key thing is getting the results in the group stage. Not really overly concerned about performances at this stage, especially with the injuries we have and the fixtures coming in quick succession.

We need to accept that the CL is a very competitive competition and that we aren't going to get results/performances like Newcastle/Bournmouth.

Perhaps Manuel should get a hypnotist in to sell Navas hes playing Seville every week!

Just a shame he chose to play his best game v his ex club!

Don't tell me to grow up when you're posting like a hormonal teenage girl pal.

BTW ... we did well in the Europa league under Clueless and Mancini. It's a piss easy competition. Haha.

We were poor for the majority of the game, which for all intents and purposes was a must win. We spent large parts of the second half in 2nd gear as though a point was good enough. It's hard to be hyper critical though when you look at our missing list. It'd have been nice to see Bony try and push for his place in the team with a performance that showed how much he wanted it, instead it was the poorest I've seen from him. Sagna wasn't very good but he was out of position and Zaba wasn't very good but he's just back from injury. YaYa was Yaya, awsome going forward, liability without the ball and the forward line shown glimpses of magic but overall fairly lacklustre.

Then we scored a 91st minute winner and all was good in the world again.

I'm defending my point of not being arrogant, like I say relax a little get the fear out of your system,it will make you feel better,it took me 30 years to do it,but it's possible PAL

It's sort of the point isn't it.

It's funny I was thinking after the match last night - had we played with 11 behind the ball in a very negative Mourinho like fashion for 90 minutes, and then scored a winner on the break it'd be hailed as a tactical masterclass. Football is all about the narrative!

As usual the defensive side of the game was a shambles but it would be wrong to pick out defenders only. You start a match against a competent spanish side with 5 attack minded players and they are going to be a threat on the counter. It is the same old debate. In the PL the level of passing is poor and thus we get away with it more often than not. In Europe we don't.

However I thought the manager's substitution of Bony was excellent. It wasn't a negative move as some thought. It gave us a solid platform and enabled KdB and Yaya space to push forward and ultimately win the game, so a big well done to MP there.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of our support is bipolar, the peaks and troughs some go thru is unbelievable.
Yeah we wasn't convincing last night, but a wins a win more so when it's against the back to back Europa league winners.

Oh and balance on BM, your havin a giraffe arnt you [emoji6]

I don't think people are blue, i think it's just an analysis of what we saw going on. We were very poor for long stretches last night and i think a lot of the comments are just down that line of thinking.

And is it slagging off or just typical forum talk you get on every forum going? I notice there aren't really any threads along the lines of "Why So Overexcited?" when people say things like "i think Sterling will be the best player in the world" and "will we go the whole season unbeaten?" and the like. So i'm not sure why we need threads like this.

It's just the peaks and troughs of comments we always get when we play well or play poorly, win lose or draw. Right now is no different to any other time.
