To the staunch inners- what happens if we do move Mancini on? Do we suddenly have bad owners/ guys at the top?
You consistently have a go at the fans who want Mancini out- 'spoilt fans' 'turn into chelsea' etc- but there is a distinct possibility he could go. Not saying it will happen, but you have to accept that it isn't just a minority on this forum who want him gone, but it is discussed in the press on a weekly basis, and has been for a while now.
Bearing that in mind, there has been nothing from the club to dispell any rumours. And it's not like it would be a dreaded vote of confidence- there are a lot of reasons for Mancini to stay which would be well supported by areas of the press, so why haven't we come out and said that all speculation is ridiculous, unless I have completely missed it.
There is so much argument on here, but there is a distinct possibility that Mancini could go- and it won't have been anything to do with a few city fans on here saying they don't rate him....
Since I can't see that anyone else has replied to you, I will.
I've been necking a few stumpys tonight so apologies if this isn't as coherent as it could be, but the attempt is to also answer some of the shite over the last 30/40-odd pages.
Someone mentioned we should have put our deadwood players in the shop window by starting them and hoping they hit form, can you imagine if we'd started the likes of Bridge and were in 6th? The rest of this bullshit would be even worse. Playing a player in the hope he plays well and increases his sell on value is not what we should be doing. We should be putting out a team to win, and we do that all the time. Because nowadays, we win all the time too.
Ferran and Txili are not going to sack Mancini to save their own job (imho they won't sack him at all, at least for the forseeable). They won't even recommend to Khaldoon that a change should be made, because it shouldn't be. The Barca crew are going to work with Mancini over summer, and we'll improve the squad like we didn't last year. Mancini said at the time, one or two more and we will push on, instead we get 5 transfers on the last day of the window. I don't think and I bloody hope it isn't, how these new guys operate.
As a "Mancini inner" (sounds ridiculous to me that I have to call myself that to other City fans), I'm not blinkered to europe, I accept we could have done better. But in the big picture others must also accept it was a tremendously difficult group, and momentum matters. We never had the momentum from the last minute fuckups in Madrid. One of the main protagonists about Europe being Mancini's downfall now admits to an admiration of Ajax's style of play. It is in this thread.
IMHO, Charity Shield is a valid trophy. To qualify for it, you must either win the league or the cup. If any club could "apply" for a season starter match and call the winner's medal the Charity Shield, then it would be a "glorified friendly", as it is the trophy winners from the previous season play it so it isn't to be scoffed at, imo. Got to be in it to win it, after all. A team earns the right to play in it by being triumphant in the previous season. So even if we don't beat Wigan, it is still 3 trophies in 3 seasons.
The suggestion that Mancini wants Monaco for the weather? Do you forget who we are dealing with here? Does anyone honestly believe that one of Mancini's considerations will be the fucking weather? Or the food? Or looking shit hot in a casino (which I agree he would do!)? He has got a job to do here at City, money isn't a concern the bloke is already rich beyond our comprehension. He wants to complete the job. Before I get started on by some for that, no I don't know it for fact, and if I am later proved wrong then OK, but that is my impression. He comes across to me as someone who does not want to leave and who wants to make us stronger. He'll not walk IMHO. We are building something here and Mancini is a major part of that.
What is really frustrating to me is the discussion always concentrated about what the papers say. Paper-readers in work ask me about Mancini, when they hear my responses it's "OK, so and so doesn't think so". Most of the criticism on here comes from the papers, and they in turn get some material from here. It's a pathetic cycle. Intelligent observers, such as Shearer this week (ironically in the papers, but who no-one can say doesn't know football) can see it for the ridiculousness it is.
I understand the need for some City fans to debate other managers, it was the main topic for us all for so long, but understand that this year, like the last 2 years, the possibility discussed won't actually become reality. And the catalyst from incoming riches to our success is now a bottler? Really?
People ask why we're so bad this year with same squad as last year. First of all last year's was also short, we masked it by winning it, we overachieved. Mancini said we need to strengthen. Second of all, we aren't "that bad", we're fucking second, and if we hadn't stung the scum so bad last year, they wouldn't have mounted such a strong challenge this. We need a stronger squad, we need more options, Mancini was not wrong in requesting this and making a big deal out of not getting it, maybe more importantly we simply need more goals.
Finally, the "shortest reigning champs" tag is most definitely a rag stat if ever there was one. Utter shite.
To the staunch inners- what happens if we do move Mancini on?
We'll always support the club first.
