Wife in Hospital

Go on then. I'll bite.

As you know I have terminal cancer. Got told I had 6 months tops to live in November. Still here. Still fighting. Most of this is because of the fantastic people in Leicester hospital. I had an appointment on Wednesday at 2.30pm for another immunotherapy session. Got seen at 7 due to a system malfunction. Did the nurses all bugger off? No. They stayed to work through the chemo patients. I was 2nd last to leave at 9pm. Kept everyone informed, wandered round with offers of sandwiches, crisps, tea etc etc. Couldn't fault them. Without them I'd be dead.
For all the negative stories and I have some of my own I could tell but choose to keep council, ones like this where nurses go the extra mile and shows you the good side of the NHS and it’s a fantastic thing to have.
BB, you keep fighting, my lad. You’ve seen one treble, fingers crossed we’ll all be celebrating more fantastic times. I wish you all the very best.

This puts things into perspective for dickheads like me mouthing off over fuck all, in the grand scheme of things. Keep fighting mate, I wish you and your family all the best. Let's hope City have another fantastic season this year for you to enjoy.

I was an acute trauma and orthopaedic nurse of some twenty years so yes i do know , i have also had multiple injuries , a brain injury and a smashed up shoulder in recent times and that was a shock to be on the other side so i understand , clearly you are upset but lashing out and the staff wont help . Ask the ward sister to go through it all with you
You are joking, haven't even seen a ward sister in the week she has been in, what I am saying is that the physios just treat every patient the same, get them up and we can tick our first box, after the first attempt when she nearly fainted her blood hp came back really low so she had to have 3 blood transfusions because of the amount she lost during the operation, the Surgeon was annoyed when he found out they had tried to get her to stand so soon

Having worked in the NHS in my past life, I have to disagree about the issue being the borders.

It's got everything to do with low pay for the stresses. Low pay equals nobody wanting to work in hospitals equals having to find staff from abroad for that low pay equals those staff getting blamed for the low funding of the NHS.

It's entirely disgusting.

In my view (and I've always said it), the national should outweigh any foreign staff for the NHS, but it's not the case. The idea of 'Brexit', for me, was conditional on the State having a new drive for making working in healthcare a noble well paid job, but the Gov, actively, worked against that.

Clowns.
They just didn’t spell out the negatives of Brexit. A terrible decision and one that has created a mess in this country. There is no way this country has improved in any shape or form since then.

Seems the government’s plan to underfund and allow the NHS to become a shadow of its former self in order to drive negative sentiment towards it is working with quite a few people. The other part of the plan is to provide equivalent private services for most things so people will pay private companies rather than suffer through the NHS’s inadequacies. We’re well on our way to a US style system where those with cash get decent health care and those without will just die waiting for treatment.

Sorry to hear your wife is poorly in hospital. Best wishes to you both and I hope she is feeling better soon.

My missus had a freak fall last weekend and broke her hip very badly, it took the Ambulance 4 hours to get to our house, once there one particular Nurse treated her very roughly (my wife is a nurse but now works in research) she is going to be in hospital for a few weeks and the care she is getting is very hit and miss, Consultent tells her one thing about how she should start her phisio after and the phisios tell her something else and leave her feeling terrible when they make her get up on a zimmer frame so they can tick a box, it's making me very angry to see her so upset I'm going to end up in trouble telling the pricks what i think about what they are doing, most of the staff just sit in the hub on their mobiles ignoring the buzzer to let you in during visiting you have to wait until someone with a access card wants to go into the ward, it's certainly opened my eyes to the kind of people the NHS employ, if you've got a pulse you will get a job
So sorry to hear that Mrs F has ended up in hospital. Your wife being a nurse must have seen the NHS fuck it’s self over. Is there a right or wrong way to view staff working long hours for no appreciation or coin. Don’t get me wrong there are thousands who work miracles. I wish we could find an answer. Hope she gets well soon.

Fuck sake BB. Twats disease. Keep fighting the bastard

While the NHS is not perfect I dont feel able to criticise the people working in it until I am willing to spend a day in there shoes, mopping up sick, wiping other peoples backsides, watching people you have got to know & like die a painfull & sometimes lonely death, get abused & shouted at by drunk dickheads etc etc.
(Hope Mrs Frothy makes a quick & full recovery)
Wow. The most perfect post ever. Cheers J
