Which to me implies they don't necessarily want to see the rules applied fairly across all teams or the refs exposed for incompetency
The fact that using VAR is still down to the referee’s discretion is the biggest testament to that, as it completely negates VAR’s ability to mitigate incompetence and corruption.

Bravo, Danilo, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko, Toure, Silva, Foden, Bernardo, Aguero, Diaz.
Bring on Sane, Delph, and Nmecha as subs.

Then go into the LC final with the best outfield possible (Walker, Kompany, Otamendi, Delph, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Aguero, Sane)

I know it is early days for VAR, but for it to be effective the whole thing should have transparency with the paying crowds being able to see and hear what is being discussed.

Vinny is not our best defender anymore, nowhere near as comfy on the ball as the others and i think we'll need that in the final, only positive would be he has played more with bravo and the others,he was not great in the first half last night but that was mainly rusty i think, pep will pick the right teams i'm sure

Just seems like Pep is giving Stones some time to re-find his form and Laporte time to adapt. I wouldn't be shocked at all if one of those two is in for Vinny just trying to make a guess of it. Luckily we're in a position now where CB is a great strength of ours, as opposed to the weakness it's been the last couple of seasons.

the plus is that when the refs ignore it and make "mistakes" it will flag them up as useless or bent and people will pay closer attention to them and that would be a good thing

Yep it's a great relief to have the CB position locked down with 4 good ones at last

I think that would happen even more consistently with the VAR official making the decisions and would avoid the suspect impacts to match results.

I agree. My missus, who has no particular investment in this, made a comment about this while we were watching Six Nations the other day—she could not understand why football’s governing bodies had not instituted the “hot mic” rule.

I then explained that would make it more difficult for them to control the narrative (aka results) and she went back to her book, presumably seeing me now as Mel Gibson’s character in Conspiracy Theory.
