Only decent thing about Wigan was the short journey, low ticket prices (on most occasions) and large away allocation. Other than that I couldn't give a shit about them. Apparently though, and I could be wrong, their ex Chairman once broke a leg in a final, does anyone know whether this is true or not as I can't find anything about it on t'internet...

He did break his leg in a final but he asked Google to remove all reference to it because he doesn't like talking about it.

I watched the news with a smile on my face last night as Rotherham squeaked their win and Wigan and Millwall dropped through the trapdoor.

Both back where they belong

This is up there with other notable relegations that I have enjoyed.

Top of the list is of course Leeds and the one I’m hoping for but sadly can’t see happening is Ashley’s Newcastle. That man is a cnut of the highest order, I’d feel sorry for the fans but some owners deserve to fail.

Cough.... surely top of the list is Rags 1974?

I don't get the hate for Wigan on here, they have had a couple of notable FA cup victories over us in the past couple of years - but I'd much rather have them in the prem over a team from London or anywhere else down south.

One of the reason's our away support is starting to reduce is the lack of North Western teams. A few years ago we had Us, Rags, Liverpool, Everton, Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan & Blackpool all in the prem at the same time. Now there just seems to be loads of London teams all charging us over £50 a ticket! Give me £30 at the DW over £50 at Selhurst park any day!

Born in 78 so I can’t claim to have enjoyed it.

The hate is for various reasons but mine is over the fact that they have a racist, xenophobic chairman who refers to our owners as "... these Arabs..." or similar and criticises them for doing things that are exactly what he did for Wigan. The difference is that (a) our owners put the money on as equity whereas his is a loan and (b) he basically manufactured a club in an area where there is little demand whereas we have a proud history and solid support.

Oh and he's also a rag arse-licker of the worst sort.

Your point about away games in the North West is a good one but I'd rather have Bolton, Blackburn, Blackpool, Preston, Oldham in the PL. I never enjoyed the trip to Wigan, albeit it was a cheap one.

Thanks for that, no wonder I couldn't find anything about it. Probably a very private man who doesn't like to talk to the press about such matters
