if I'm right aren't Wigan now in the Europa League regardless of the result of the final?

So Whelan gets a bit of extra cash, and if they get a big team they'd love the cheap away end.

One just has to look at Newcastle to see what the EL did to them. And they have way better players than Wigan did. In a way, reaching the FA cup final might not be so great for them.

I wouldn't bet your mortgage on it. It's better to have the points in the bag rather than games in hand. With Villa and Sunderland playing well, only Stoke offer any realistic chance for Wigan to survive. My money would be on Stoke to pull through, although I would much prefer Wigan to stay up.
