Saw this big herd of elk today getting chased around by a loose dog. Lucky for the dog I didn’t have a rifle with me, I bet some of these elk die in the next day or two as they were running around a lot, I could see the steam coming off of them and it’s already down to -11c

Ha. My mad wife was no more than 50 bloody yards from it when she took that. I was hiding in the car.
I think they can run quite quickly.
I visited a family a few years ago and we were sat down talking when the father came in and asked me to come out into the kitchen.

They had a patio door leading off the kitchen onto a deck. Lay on the deck right outside the door was a bear. The father then poured some honey into a dog dish and went out and put it in front of the bear.

“Watch, she’ll lick the honey until there’s not much left and then put her foot on the bowl to hold it still while she finishes off what’s left”. And that’s just what she did.

About half an hour later, there was some noise outside and they said it was another bear under their other deck. Out we went and the wife (attached), took out a bag of sunflower seeds which drew the bear out for a feed.

It was interesting and fun to see and they were very familiar with the bears, but in reality it’s stupidity. They are powerful wild animals and if they are at a different house, they could easily become frustrated or unpredictable if they don’t get the treats or attention they may be expecting.
