How are bonuses not part of FFP - thats surely nonsense. Otherwise it would be easy to get round - Aguerro gets minimum wage a week but a £1m bonus for saying hello on the website

I don't believe you're right. I think there's some confusion between standard FFP, and City's interim FFP "punishment" and how it is interpreted.

Our spend on wages, amongst other things, is limited under our current punishment. However, for City specifically, as part of the punishment, bonuses don't count towards our limited wage spend. Under normal FFP rules bonuses DO count towards wages, so once we are out of the punishment period our wage spend, which will be salary plus bonuses, will be entirely relevant for FFP calculations.

Again, that's not correct Sam. We are reported to have an agreement over excluding certain bonus elements for the purpose of the wage bill sanction only. There's no provision to exclude bonuses from the normal FFP calculation.

Seems not so stupid my friend. Come on, it would make no sense for bonuses to be excluded as it would be easy to get around wouldnt it.

People must also remember that we aren't paying Negredos wages this season either when we were last year.

No because we're on course to post a profit this season so our accounts will no longer be any business of Gill and co, unless we go past the acceptable loss limits in a 3 year period again. Our figure of £205m in the last accounts released included bonuses paid afaik and that was a drop on previous years.

In any case, we'll have performance bonuses of our own with our sponsors so they end up as the ones that foot the bill if we have a successful seaon (along with increased prize money) So, no need to worry about winning trophies, it won't break the bank ;)

I still don't understand why the club didn't take UEFA to court especially once they started shifting the goal posts at the last minute. We shouldn't have to be discussing this shit every time we want to sign a player.
