Will ADUG downgrade their commitment to us?

Another one of these? Someone turn the light on!

Is that a cryptic comment? Shall I wait until you finish your phonecall to the chairman before giving me a polite response?

Personally I tend to believe that their straightforward intention to raise Abu Dhabi's profile has been achieved. They dont necessarily have to offload their entire stake in the club, even if that option has been considered. Nothing so dramatic, but certainly I cant see the 200k a week galacticos arriving in the short term.

this is not Toxin we're dealing with. Toxin bought the club to turn a profit and keep his political ambitions over here alive by staying in the public eye while he was in exile. (Thais love their "footbun"). he turned a hefty profit.

even with all the dire warnings of ADUG financial losses, a poor economy, and our absolutely shocking form, this is one thing i'm not worried about. five, even ten years is nothing to these guys when they make up their mind about something.

this lot are a different breed. they buy things like the Chrysler building because 100 years from now (if we're not extinct) they want people to still look at it and think "Abu Dhabi."

or...

alternatively, we might end up being a feeder club for al Jazeera.

By all accounts they have managed to build themselves a formidable reputation in the world of business. I ve no reason to doubt their intention as stated earlier, but its good to learn the reasoning behind their business decision making. Especially when dealing with a volatile business like a Premiership club, rather than some world famous landmark in an American city.
The alternative fate of becoming a feeder club isnt unpalatable at all considering what our own Academy has done for us!

the Prem is volatile (and relatively new) but City have been around since 1880. that's longer than the Chrysler Building (which the way it looks at the moment, may outlast Chrysler). City are volatile as a business but not as an icon; i'm not an expert on their culture but i believed them when they basically said as much (not counting al Fahim, who doesn't appear to have found favor with his antics).

ADUG--and our spiffy new Puma kit--are about the only things i'm *not* worried about at the moment....

i hate to say this but if they did pull out how would that affect their status .40.000 city fans wont worry them and nobody else gives a shit
Worrying times indeed

Face saving. It would make our owners (and by implication the whole Abu Dhabi royal family) appear to everyone as such fools in the eyes of the whole arab world. I feel that City represent much more than just a football club to them, we are an entry ticket to a whole world of sporting success and global acclamation. In that respect I dont believe they will allow City to fail. They will do whatever is necessary to ensure the enterprise succeeds, whether that means firing the manager, Cook, the players or all of them it will be done. Keep the faith.

Now that they are surely aware that;
a) This franchise cannot be successfully relocated to real estate around London. The large amount of work required to even begin considering development of CoMs and or adjacent vacant land.
b) The huge amount of hype swamping the gravy train league has possibly clouded the advice of their advisors on the manager's position.
c) The realisation that formulating a strict 10 year plan of progress, can be easily derailed by a set of players not performing to the standard desired by anyone associated with the club, except the players themselves of course.
d) There is no way that an investment of Abramovich proportions will ever make a sensible return. Already the purchase price of the club and the signing of Robinho have raised the world profile of Abu Dhabi significantly.

Right now, they ve gleaned what value for money they could. Can anyone see them indulging us further? And why would it make sense for them to sink those fabled, colossal sums into it now?

Stop worring about what they going to do, we are going to buy some quality in the next month and things will change, rest assured.
