Will Pep finally play the kids?

Pretty sure we had Rico Lewis, McAtte, Foden and O’Reilly all getting game time in the latter half of last season - all academy grads.

That’s before taking into account players like Simpson-Pusey who featured in several games as well.
Pep being anti kids is a bit of a myth. He said: “I’m not going to play kids for the sake of it, but just if they’re good enough.” (Rough quote)

If they're good enough they'll play, if they're not, they wont unless its forced upon us. Exactly the same as literally everywhere else.

We have Foden, Trafford, Lewis, O'Reilly and Bobb all involved in the squad on a weekly basis from the academy, how many do Liverpool have? 1. Arsenal have fewer than us. Chelsea have more of our graduates than their own. Accusations of pep not playing kids is about as wide of the mark as a Fernandes penalty against Fulham.

Plus Bobb, Trafford and Khusonov this season.

I think Pep took a long time to identify O'Reilly as a 1st team player.

Come Sunday the injury list will be much improved alot are precautions. Plus Gvardiol, Foden & Savinho should also be back.
Hopefully, I saw 12 players out before. Not much you can realistically do with that. Also isn't the most easy subject to get clear information, as you don't really want other teams to know the ins and outs

I didn't realise that Nico O Reilly was the catalyst for that loss.
I don’t think he pushed the snowball at the top of the hill. But when it was gathering pace he couldn’t do an anything to stop it. The game completely passed him by. Brighton played around him and he had no idea what to do when he had the ball.

Sending off Echeverri and Reis is already looking foolish. Those were who should be playing.
This is not X
Neither of those are remotely ready for the premier league, notwithstanding the cup final weirdness
Why do all these weird overseas plastics all seem to assume that the answer to all our problems is putting out a team of untested teenagers in the premier league?

Khaldoon and Viana are to blame for (yet another) mediocre transfer window
Why not pep ? He wants a small squad , they sell/ loan the players. Reid and Echeverri would easily get game time now with our injuries and the season just started

We bought a top class keeper and the rest were mediocre mid table signings. That’s incredible ? Jeez, set your incredible bar higher

Tevez, adebayor, Barry, Lescott was pretty damn good

Yaya, Silva, Mario, Kolarov was nearer incredible.

This summer’s incomings are, to put it mildly, underwhelming by comparison
I’m not saying it was a good window, but it was better than January.

He was 19 and whilst I like O'Reilly, there is a lot about his game that is currently lacking, he was not at the teenage wonderkid level.
I thought he was very good at left back given that he played in midfield for the academy sides. If a wonderkid is Lamine Yamal, or Doue then I agree he is not at that level. IMO he's very close to the level of Ait-Nouri though. He probably doesn't have his ability on the ball, but I think he's got an eye for goal, and he has more power. I wonder where he will end up playing? He is an under-rated player imo. Possibly a good thing as hype doesn't really help a player.

January's window could be legendary if Echeverri, Reis and Khusanov come through. They haven't yet.

I am excited to see Donnarumma in a City shirt, and I am pretty convinced that Reijnders is going to be very good for us too. Cherki could be anything. 2 good players per window is good going imo.

Liverpool and Arsenal put us under pressure because they spent huge amounts and they finished above us, so we have to catch targets that look like they are moving forward.
