Lescott, Tevez, Ade as oppo as well ;o)

I don think the squad will change as much as it has over the last two years, but in two years time our starting line up will be almosty unrecogniseable to what it is now.

We needed a major overhaul and we got one (Hallelujah). Changes of this magnitude just won't happen again, it would have an adverse effect.

it will change a lot next season imo a big clear out topping the list will be

ireland
swp
petrov

and maybe

onuaha
bellamy (hopefuly not)

Bellamy????

I think what we would see in the next transfer window is 3 central midfielders coming in and 2 full backs. Maybe also replace Roque with someone more reliable. And if we can get a chance on a superstar, we would grab that chance.

Cant see Bellamy going but the others i would suggest are pretty nailed on although i would give Ireland another season. Suggest a few others on the way:-

Garrido
Zab
Viera
Sylviniho
Michael Johnson

add to that all the loan players then it could be another massive clear out in the summer - thnk only 25 players can be registered for the prem next year so there will be no hangers on.

i only say bellamy because of his relationship with mancini zab will stay imo he's played in every game under mancini apart from sat due to suspension

If we qualify for CL - Bellera will have to be dragged out of the club and too be honest Bobby aint stupid - he does the biz and as long as he produces he will continue to be first choice.

I don't think Zab or Garrido will go, they both are good utility players and if we get into Europe then we will need strength in depth.

So overall, is this your assessment for next season:

Given
+New goalie

Zab
+New RB

Lescott
Kompany
Toure
Richards

Bridge
+New LB

De Jong
Barry
+New CM
+New CM
+New AM

Johnson
Weiss
Bellamy

Tevez
Adebayor
+New backup striker

Out with all our loan-outs plus Ireland, SWP, Nedum, Petrov, Garrido, Sylvinho, Vieira, Johnson, Roque.

16 players off-loaded and 7 players signed.

If we got 4th i can see 4 or 5 signings and you also know with 4th would come a marque signing. Would love to see us make a 60-70 million signing, just so everyone knows once again that our owners are in this for the long run and finally shut up the "he will get bored" brigade!!

Probably 16 is on the high side and i dont think City will push out the like of Ireland or SWP or Crocky but it they are going to get pushed down the pesking order then they would look to move on

anywhere between 10 and 15 (dont think we will need a new goalie - either Hart will come back or we will stay with what we have)

True, looking at Berti's post, we would have to have 4 players developed by our youth system for Champions League football, among 25 players registered, so SWP, Ireland and Nedum could probably stay. They are good squad players to have around anyway.

I think we should defintly keep ireland on his day hes still are best player just cos hes not had a good season doesnt make him suddenly rubbish also we should have micheal johnson in the team in two years hes a fantastic player and a manc when playing at his best he could easily get into any of the top 4 team

I reckon with the rule changes coming we are likely to keep the likes of Ned, Ireland, Sweep etc we need English and Academy players as we will have to play some. Something our money cannot do is change a player nationality or past and we need to remember this.

So whilst I can see changes I reckon there won;t be many going out other that the likes of Benjani, Boji, caciedo, jo, Petrov etc

Reckon we will start signing quality rather than quantity and I expect a few English players to come in, maybe an experienced 1 or 2 and a few quality youngsters like AJ. Then if we get 4th maybe 3 top internationals to really up the quality, two in the midfield and one up front

How can anyone talk about selling M Johnson right now, who the fuck would buy him and how much do people honestly think someone will pay?

Maybe we should loan him out for the first half of next season.

It has really hurt us that we depended on Johnson and Ireland for our central midfield this season though. I'm betting we would have at least 6 more points by now if Ireland had been as he was last season and Johnson hadn't gotten another long-term injury.

-- Mon Apr 05, 2010 2:03 pm --

And of course a couple of full-backs.

i think if we get top 4 this year i can see mancini getting 2 world star defenders, creative midfielder and another world class striker.fullback areas are a problem as we dont have world class there.

Yes it would be interesting to hear how much Hughes had planned on them both, this season. Ireland for sure, but I'm betting he had Johnson heavily in his plans too.
