Will we ever put in a FULL 90 min display?

1) In both games vs Everton this season, we have been undone by a 15 min spell when we either lost concentration or sat back and lost initiative.
Although this is frustrating, it is a big step forward to previous years when they actually played us off the park to get their wins...now they need a bit of luck.

2) I think we have won something like 12 out of our last 13 home games...with an away record that is awful over this period.
This tells me we are a fair weather team that stills lacks backbone in a few areas.
You can see why Hughes wanted to sign a player like John Terry - because of the fighting spirit + leadership he brings to the team.
Top sides still need a Roy Keane,Vieira-in-his-prime type player who is uncompromising and leads by example.
i.e. a midfield player who not only breaks up play (like De Jong) ... but drives the team forward and stops them dropping back + inviting pressure.
Not many around in this category...but Scott Parker at W ham has done a good job in this role in a struggling team.

On point 2 - we already have that player. He's just not been given a chance to prove himself in that position, which incidentally is his best position.

I'm not quite sure whether Milner is the answer.... but I do agree that he hasn't been given the chance to show what he can do.

It will be very frustrating if he ends up leaving the club...without having been given a run in his best position.

I would have played De Jong / Milner / Yaya in midfield yesterday with Silva / Dzeko / SWP up front.
(SWP because he offers more in away games than AJ who tends to be pretty anonymous and lightweight away from COMS)

I think we still have a tendency to try to win matches by a single goal. Unfortunately we dont have the defensive solidity to do that. We're not a "1-0 to the Arsenal" team. We really needed a 2nd goal yesterday.

I wouldn't say it is every game but it is the majority. hence why we keep loosing to the Rags in the last minutes, because they play to the whistle. Sad but true!!! And yeah, you have to ask what happened at certain games like Birmingham and Villa and now Everton. But I am sure BobbyManc has it all in hand for nest seasons challenge on the title!

Keep the faith.

We did

So many foolish comments including this and others on this thread. Manure dominated the first 25 minutes of the semi and if wasn't for a great save from Joe and a poor finish from Berbatoss we could have been 2 down.

After that we were on top but still only scored one goal which was fortunately enough on the day.

As others have said we are making progress but very slowly and the defeat at Liverpool and yesterday at Everton proves that.
