Will we see a players' strike?

I'd be very supportive of a player strike but I don't believe it will happen
It has impacted our players a lot more than the other clubs. Liverpool also had it few years back but then they could regroup after failing to get to CL and not having key players going deep in euros, world cups and nations league.

I think we need to scrap league cup. Reduce friedlies and remove nations league. Make the champions league be about champions. Sick and tired of teams finishing 3rd or 4th in the
league and then winning the CL.

If players are happy to break their holidays for a world cup or euros then complaints about a very small percentage of them playing a few extra games every 4 years in the Club World Cup dont really wash with me.

Much more important is that the clubs start looking after their players - don't select them week in, week out playing 90 minutes every game like we did with Rodri. Rotate more, rest your first choice players more, maybe even give them a week away from the club every now and then to refresh physically and mentally.

Clubs might argue that the stakes are too high, it would hurt results. That would just tell me that they're not particularly interested in player welfare in the first place.

Also worth a mention that players in championship play 46 games excluding cups & playoff etc. often with smaller squads.
But don't play in Europe and tend to get knocked out of cups a round or two earlier on average.
The eight fewer league games is wiped out with eight games minimum for PL teams in Europe.

I understand the scrapping of the league cup but City use it the correct way in giving fringe and young players a go until the later rounds.
We did the domestic treble no other team has done that.
A fact that is forgotten by all but City.

Great post. I'm hoping Gonzalez stays as Rodders needs to be looked after.

There would be a huge public backlash if they did

I agree they're being flogged. Earnings shouldn't be a factor when people are being overworked to the point of it unsustainable.

However it'd be horrible optics when many people are working just as many days a week and can barely afford to eat because of their salary.

Not sure what the solution is, but they'd be wise not to strike and publicly say they're being overworked if they want any public support.
