I thought the break we needed was Arse getting beat by Bournemouth at home which still left us with an awful lot to do. We may have still needed to win all our games and get GD increased but it was do-able. Last night was a major blow though, much of our own doing sadly. We may get one more opportunity but it seems unlikely now. Got to keep going until the end.

It is not damning. It is a sign of a very young team trying to discover their identity. Inconsistency is no surprise at all. If anything, the surprise is we may end up with 2 cups and a very close second in the league

Never said the league was done. My reply was to a poster who said if we don't win the league it wasn't solely down to last night. It is down to the fact we have dropped a lot of points from winning positions. I agree this is a young and inexperienced side learning its way, and before the season started I said a domestic cup and top 4 would be a good season given in my opinion some of the average players bought in the last 3 seasons. That said I still think its still pretty poor the amount of games we lose control in and drop points.

Even if you're the most loyal City fan.. you have to say.. our team this year has too many mistakes in them.

Our good title winning teams might not have all been world class players but they were drilled so that they didn't make that many mistakes and it was usually that we lost the ball upfield and teams beat us on the counter.

This season we've had a lot more mistakes by a lot of other players. Remains to be seen if we can drill them into the game mentality required or they're just not good enough.

A league title can’t be over if one defeat for the leader puts it back in our hands. Just watch Arsenal tonight, hopefully it’s an extra time gruelling game for them then West Ham on Sunday have the biggest incentive they’ll ever have as a football club to get a win. We need to obvs beat Brentford, ideally grab a few goals. Don’t lose faith yet blue

Realistically, we need arsenal to drop points at west ham and us to get a +4 or even +6 goal swing across our next two games against Brentford and palace. It could happen. We could spank place. West Ham could find some fight. But I just think arsenal will always have their sneaky sucker punch ready to be called upon. An Eze dive, a Gabriel shove, a tactical time out if Bowen is having a good game.

It's a huge ask. Probably too much. Especially as I see the Bournemouth game as a huge problem after yesterday's away performance. Could we get through it on adrenaline, if it's still on by then?

But if city have taught me anything, it's don't go to the toilets at the Etihad if you actually need the toilet. Oh, and also to never wrote us off.

Or alternatively it's pretty amazing how this young team who are learning to play with each other has risen to the challenge in many big games. That gives me more hope for the future than if we were bumming the lower teams and falling apart against the top 6. Which btw is exactly what was happening last season. So those who say we have made no progress are not thinking very clearly.
