Will we win the league this season? No

If we do it, it will probably trump the “93:20 Agueroooooooo!” moment. I somehow doubt it will happen, simply because we have a Cup Final and more and tricky games than Arsenal, but whatever happens we have done well this season, given the circumstances.

Take it to the last game please.
Keep those cunts honest.
Football is funny. We get a couple of early goals v.villa and we move ahead of them in running.
Nerves will 100% play a part for them
Crazy things can happen on the last day of the season.

The entire football world thought we were certainties against both QPR (2012) and Villa (2022). Both of those ended gloriously for us but one or both could easily have ended in total heartbreak. And unlike Arsenal next week, we were at home on both occasions.

Just beat Palace and Bournemouth and take it from there.

I think it's highly improbable. All we can do is make Arsenal win their remaining matches by winning ours so that if they do slip up we do win the league, and the cup and the domestic treble! Their matches don't seem overly tough but Liverpool 3 up at Palace in 2014 .... QPR 2-1 up at the Etihad in 2012. Not likely certainly but....

Beat Palace and it comes down to beating Bournemouth away and then scoring first against Villa. Do that and we could be top subject to goal diff, and Arsenal will panic. I keep being told Palace will be a pushover for Arsenal but a 10 man QPR were no pushover once City heard that Man Utd were 1-0 up at Sunderland. Final day can be wild.

In the back of my mind, I am wary of Bournemouth away. That's the problem fixture, but first we must beat Palace, and preferably by 3 goals because Arsenal will likely bury Burnley at home.

Fair point but that QPR team had something to fight for. In the final league game this year, Palace players will be looking to avoid injury.

For me, nothing will ever come close to 93:20.

The Villa game ran it very close for me as that season was stressful as a fan (or at least for me) as it was a proper slog and we were losing 2-0, but with 93:20 you had the United element and it being our first title for a long time. I did not enjoy either final day, as strange as that may sound. The day after each was much more enjoyable.

Its an interesting one - I agree 93:20 is tough to beat. I'd be interested in the rankings of how people rate them on a joyful index - has this been done as a thread?

Gillingham
United Semi Final
93:20
Villa 3-2
United FA Cup Final (the one we won!)
UCL Final (the one we won!)

Winning this wouldn't come close to any of those 6.

Arsenal will know v Palace that if they put it on them a bit, they won’t fancy picking up injuries and they’ll roll over.

I’d like nothing more than to be wrong, but you couldn’t have picked a worse end of season fixture IMO.
I heard something about Arsenal paying any extra £15m to CP if they win the league as part of Eze sale. From CP manager. Anyone heard this? Sounds BS to me however …..

There is £7.5m in add ons based on Arsenal winning league and/or CL. Whether that's split down the middle or £5m PL, £2.5m CL (as an example) I don't know. But yes there is a clause but the reason it may not be relevant is that some reports suggest there are £10m in performance related clauses in the Guehi transfer which I suspect includes winning the PL so Palace are quids in regardless if that's true.

Looking at Palace forums a lot of their fans wanting Eze to win the PL it seems.

100%. For 93:20 it's just that chasmic emotional shift from absolute despondency, to unbridled ecstasy that did it for me. Gillingham will always stick with me as I was pissed up in a bar at Uni in Glasgow, and had one of the best nights ever afterwards. 93:20 I'd just had my firstborn so it really hit hard on so many levels.

That cuts both ways - Arsenal players now have a daily reminder, in the shape of Ben White, of how they are all one tackle away from missing out on the Premier League climax, the Champions League final and the World Cup.

I wonder whether they're keeping him away from the rest - this must have been discussed?

<whisper > we also have players at the World Cup, of course :-/ </whisper>

Ashley Barnes has a fairly high thug/annoyance value - I'd like to see him on the pitch in Monday

In Villa game, we had Scousers on the verge of quadruple. I think was at least as bad a prospect. I could envisage a decade long wankfest from that

Agreed, Bournemouth will be very tough. To be fair, they haven’t buried many teams at home. They’ve defended their way to title.

QPR were fighting for their lives. A bit different
