Will we win the league this season?

While Pep will always be coy and activity is done behind the day to day activity he oversees , his latest commentary suggests its a few out and none in until the window is shut.

That being the case its obvious to me this season is another one where we transition to players we have bought in the two windows and determine which ones have a long term future at the club and which ones will not.

The obvious issues are is this squad capable of winning the league and winning trophies home and abroad in seasons to come with Pep or his eventual replacement be that at seasons end or the end of his contract and if not what has to be done to ensure we remain competitive and are we set up to do so.

On the first point I think we are capable however we may need a change of mindset and structure and Pep has shown that players who are prepared to work to his edict will reap the rewards in the past but now the question remains if that edict is good enough or appropriate enough for ultimate success per say or with this squad.

My view is that it is however we don't have the right mix of players now with the mindset and ability to carry this out both short or longer term so to win titles into the future we will need players more capable in the important facets of the game or for Pep to do what sides like Liverpool and Arsenal are now doing but do it better.

So in summary no title this year but we have the resources and set up and ability to adapt with ir without Pep to remain competitive and win titles and we will just not at the rate we have under Pep to date because of Pep himself and the type of player we had in spades that were good enough and committed enough to achieve what they did.

So you understand it but you still used it wrongly.

Haaland is not a flat track bully, to suggest he is one is drivel

Why do you decide? You're certainly an expert in talking drivel but sadly that rules you out of deciding what is drivel and what isn't. He's a flat track bully in every sense. Against decent defenders he's nullified and he doesn't have a plan B. And we end up playing with 10 men. That is not drivel. I'm assuming you don't want to criticise his performances because you are intimidated by his size?

Do Arsenal or Dortmund or Munich or Spurs or Chelsea have any decent defenders ? All teams who big Erl has terrorised.

Maybe you get your opinions directly from the Sky muppets who, desperately jealous of City signing the world’s most prolific goalscorer at the peak of his powers, scrambled for a narrative to cling to to give them some hope and happened upon the utter drivel that he can’t do it against the bigger teams. And so of course easily led idiots parrot them on social media and an urban myth is born.

Last summers window was shambolic in hindsight but the past two windows are correcting that

We are transitioning from possibly the greatest team in English football history

That wont be an easy one to pull off but we are going in the right direction

This new team just needs time

Stay within striking distance of the leaders come January then we’ve got a chance

It's far too early to be saying the last 2 windows are correcting things. How many games have these new signings made?

We've played a lot more top teams than that and, bar the odd penalty, he's come up short in most big games. Especially in the last 18 months which is the period i am judging him on. And i get my info from my eyes mate. Unlike you who gets it from his arsehole. I actually watch the games. You clearly don't.

Chelsea, City, Arsenal & Liverpool all currently average.

Big wins against relegation fodder for Arsenal, Chelsea and us. Arsenal lucky at the swamp, Chelsea lucky at home to Palace and we were shite vs Spurs. Dippers held till 88th minute at home to the mighty Bournemouth and again score late tonight against 10 men despite being 2 up.

Still very early days but imo nobody is clear cut.

Liverpool & Arsenal should be fresher they've both had a pre season, City & Chelsea hardly so.

Brighton away, rags home, Arsenal away next 3 games

we need to step up as all much stronger than Wolves imo. rags maybe not but Pep has something against them that our real quality often doesnt come out vs them like it should. losing a cup final to Ten Hag, last year at the Etihad etc. shouldnt happen.
like he is hyping them up based on like they are still the side they were under Red Nose while they are now miles away...

I think we need 7 points of these 3 games. 4 or less is quite poor.

having said that exact same fixtures we did fat fuck zero points last season so not hard to improve on that.

Here we go, I produce facts to disprove your drivel and you move the goalposts to “last 18 months”.

I believe the Spurs game where he fired us to the title in a stadium where we’d never previously scored a league goal was the biggest game in those 18 months.

Why not move the goalposts to “last 12 months” now.

Bizarre that with all the problems we have in our squad you’re focusing on criticising one of only two demonstrably world class players therein.

Dortmund? lol.

The stats show we're better off without him. At the beginning of last season we had a significantly higher win percentage when he wasn't in the team (85.7%) versus when he was (71.7%). God knows what it will be now after the unbeaten run at the end of last season when he was injured. You can't see the woods for the trees you.

I'm shocked that anyone thinks the league is anything but wide open, all the big teams have known and unknown flaws and there is no easy game up and down the league. The most open it has been for over a decade. I reckon one good run and holding your nerve in the spring wins it.

We'll most definitely challenge, hopefully win it. Despite all the whining we are one of the best teams in the world and will achieve at least top 3 this season. Personally I think think we will win it. Slow start as expected after the summer, then we'll click in to champions mode and go on long winning streaks

I can't see us winning the title. We are too easy to frustrate so won't go on the long runs that we used to. We are lacking goal scoring again this season.

I wish that wasn't so but I think it's obvious now. I hope I'm wrong.

We looked great in one game and poor in the next.
Liverpool have won 2 games but don't look as strong as last season.
Arsenal have won 2 against shite and wait to be tested.
Big tests are on the way very, very soon. Arse v Liverpool on Sunday! Hopefully we can get something at Brighton beforehand.

Early days. Keep the faith and let's see where we are after 10 games.
As fitness builds and we get better luck with injuries than last season, anything remains possible.
