Will we win the league this season?

We'll be right up there and that Juve performance was a sign of things to come. Far more confidence running through our attacking players and Rodri's return is crucial.

We just need to find the right balance / personnel defensively. Pep doesn't seem to fancy him but Khusanov could be a destroyer with excellent recovery pace in the right centre back position.

The problem is, I think, you need Dias there to lead the backline, which then means Gvardiol is pushed to LB.

We definitely need a new right back and I'd shift Akanji, Ake and Stones if we can.

All true enough. But those two goals conceded were sloppy. As were the four against Al-Hilal (mega sloppy, in fact). Come on, Al-Hilal aren't all that. A decent team, better than we thought they'd be, who had their game plan organised. Knocked out in the very next round.
This CWC is in any case a very approximate testing ground. I genuinely don't know which City is going to turn up in August.

We will be well off the pace in August given players aren't returning till then 3-4 weeks after most other teams.

It looks like Doku and Savinho are going to get considerable game time. So we would need them to up their goal scoring/assists significantly which I'm not convinced will happen, hopefully I'm wrong.

There are loads of positives though with the new signings and the return of Rodri and Foden. Also saw a few good signs from Haaland dropping deeper and getting more involved with people running past him.

It's going to be an exciting season!

Almost impossible to say whilst the transfer window remains open.

Nobody predicted the dippers to win it last season and they strolled it. Anything can happen.

If we can sort our defence and avoid long term injuries to key players we are in with a chance. Looking forward to seeing our new signings settle in.

We looked much better when Foden played ahead of Savinho and with the fullbacks high and wide, pray to god we stick with that instead of Doku and Savinho high and wide and inverted fullbacks

Liverpool
Arsenal
City
Chelsea

City and Chelsea to fight it out for 3rd and 4th. Potential to get 2nd if we can get control of games like we used to.
I loathe to say this as I don’t want it to sound like someone can capitalise on the tragedy, which isn’t what I mean at all.

Nobody knows how the passing of Jota, and the circumstances in which he died, will affect Liverpool. It’s going to be so hard for them to focus I believe, especially in the early weeks of the season.

Just posted on the other thread, think it's going to be a 3 horse race between us, Liverpool and Arsenal. Liverpool have bought better than us so far.

Think if we go with our heads it’s looking like Liverpool are favourites, we are still very vulnerable on the counter and have defensive frailties that need addressing.

We are very unsettled currently with everyone having a different opinion of our best 11. Hopefully we get it together over the next few weeks in training, few early wins could give us some confidence and momentum.

No training at all for next few weeks. They are all on holiday until the end of this month. We will start a bit undercooked and have some hard games early doors. Hopefully we are ready.

Think the holiday is preferable to the training for all concerned. Surely most are just fucking knackered mentally and physically from 3 years of constant football. Go play some golf lads.

Gvardiol is a centre back and our better results towards the end of the year coincided with him moving to cb. We've just bought ait nouri who's an actual lb so maybe play him there. Also the only thing Khusanov will currently destroy is the strange fantasies of some fans that he's ready to be a difference maker. He's not. And that's fine. Maybe he will be one day. I agree with moving akanji on.

Our defence has been.our weakness for some time now, Stones when fit was fine, Gvardiol is a centre back as pointed out, the rest are mediocre or weak. Keeper is never on his line thats why he gets beaten so often. There's no leader at the back.

Just watching the build up for this chelsea game.

They've got a fantastic squad now.

I think unless we address the lack of goals from the wingers. Between Sane/ Sterling/ Mahrez they guaranteed us 50 goals between them.

I was against Rodrygo initially but I think we need someone like him. I think he could be our Pedro (workhorse but still contributes 15-20 goals, which i can't see savinho or doku doing)

If we sign him and a rb we'll be okay but if we go into the season as we are now. I think we'll have glimpes of a world class team but not enough consistency over the season to win the league or CL

I might be going against the consensus of opinion here but I think we are going to do really well and there is a good chance we win the league with a decent points gap. We have Pep, we have a great board, recruitment team and already made some great signings since January. There seems to be a lot of “you’re only as good as your last game” going on here. Clearly there was a counter attacking issue against Al-Hilal which we have had in the past and Pep has addressed, there is plenty of time left in this window. Chin up blues, a couple of victories will change your mindset!
