Will we win the league this season?

Hi all

I want my first post to be a positive one so my answer to this thread is YES we definitely can win the league this season.

If Haaland, Rodri & Donnarumma all perform thats such a solid spine and we won’t lose too many games.

I love how one round of matches can change everyone's views. Suddenly Arsenal are nailed on and Liverpool are crap.

Seriously, I think Liverpool will win the league by a wide margin. They have the best first XI and the best squad + the recent experience of winning the league.

And that’s mostly without Rodri, Donna, Doku and Foden on current form, Haaland at his best...

As things stand, Arsenal are slight favourites. But we have a decent chance if Rodri stays fit for most of the season.
I honestly can’t see it for us but I just looked at the table. We really aren’t that far behind L’pool and arsenal. I watched the highlights of Palace v l’pool and Palace would have hammered them but for Allison, better finishing and a bit of luck. Us v arsenal, we know it’s all ifs and buts, in the end a point is a good one away. We have to play a lot better than we have and we know we are capable so you never know.

They don't have the best first XI, though. It's questionable whether any of their defenders would start for Arsenal (VVD at 34 is not what he used to be). How many Liverpool players would be guaranteed starters at City? VVD, McAllister, Salah (Wirtz over Foden is highly questionable). Salah is 33, Wirtz may need time to learn the league, Gakpo is worse than Diaz...

They may win the title. But by a wide margin? Are they going to win 95+ pts?

The way I see it is Liverpool have the best starting 11 but Arsenal have the best squad however I believe we are somewhere in between. We have a better squad than Liverpool and also a better starting 11 than Arsenal.

Great position for us to be in as I believe focus will be on the other two teams and we have the chance to slip in under the radar. Similar to what Liverpool did last season to be fair.

They have a big problem Konate. They are weak defensively because his heads in Madrid. The Palace game Konate is at fault for most of the opportunities Palace had and he didn’t look arsed.

if we'd have bought a right back then we could have but that mistake is going to cost us the season. It's already cost us 6 points. Sure they'll be ok for a few games but then there's the inevitable mistake that will happen. It's not a slight on Nunes as he's not a right back but it's inevitable that it's going to happen.

It’s ridiculous isn’t it. I can only imagine the meltdown after we lost to Spurs at home and now a few weeks later we look like we might be able to put up a title challenge.

A different perspective on the other challengers weekend results.

Liverpool were awful yet still fought back to equalise only to lose to a last minute goal away from home against a team that has not lost a game of football in 18 matches.

Arsenal meanwhile played as well as they could and it took a last minute winner to defeat a Newcastle team who have had a very poor start to the season and already lost a few times at home this season including against an out of form Liverpool.

There is 30+ matches left to play. Impossible to make any serious judgments on anything we have seen.

Sure, same applies to Haaland and Donnarumma, but his post was more specifically about the dippers.
How does it apply to Haaland and Donnarumma, both young players still, he said that salah and Allison are freakishly good, I was merely pointing out Salah is.not.as effective as he once was, the players of our players you mention have their best years ahead of them

Liverpool could have been 3-4 goals down after the first half at Palace. They were that awful. The 2nd half was dramatic only because Palace were very wasteful in the first half. To present the game as showing how Liverpool could have avoided the defeat even when being at their worst is misleading. Palace created about the same amount of chances as Villa when they smashed Liverpool 7:2.

Palace are showing that our loss in the FA Cup, partly due to a refereeing mistake, wasn't such a bad failure of Pep and the team. Palace are a very solid team, any of the big teams can lose against them.

Liverpool have a world class goal keeper who bailed them out in that half despite every outfield player being awful. That’s the beauty of having a world class GK. They have the ability to keep you in a contest that you probably don’t deserve to be in.

I expect we will have similar moments this season with Donnarumma who also has the quality to be able to do this.

We've got a manager who is 10 times the manager that LFC or Arsenal have. Think that definitely needs to be taken into consideration.

I meant that they're freakishly good, not that they're old!

Pep is probably the greatest football manager of all time however let’s not gloss over the fact that he is entering uncharted territory in his managerial career. At his previous clubs he was long gone by now so let’s just hope the hunger and desire to be the best remains as strong as ever.

That’s the one thing you can’t question over the likes of Slot & Arteta. They are still in the early stages of their projects (well maybe not Arteta) but because they haven’t won much you would expect the hunger to be strong.

On paper, they have the best XI but from what iv seen they look like strangers in moments. This is not their best team of the past 10 years and they have sneaked victories on more than one occasion this season.
I think since we moved Khusanov to RB we have looked difficult to score against. We need him back. Donnurama has proved to be a great signing also and our defensive problems seem to be sorting themselves out.
With Doku improving and Phil getting back on it, we definitely have a chance to put up a fight. Haaland is looking as hungry as the day we signed him. He's irreplaceable.
Arsenal are wankers, they'll win nothing. Again.

We have a better starting 11 than Arsenal? Im not sure about that, haven't seen anything from this season to think so.

Between 17/18 and 22/23 seasons - proper Pep's era with Pep's teams - we had 15 wins and one loss vs Arsenal. Since then as un-Pepping of the team began, it is 3 losses and three draws and this is where we are right now.
