Will we win the league this season?

I think Arsenal have scored and taken points at the Emirates in their games against bottom feeder Leeds, Forest and West Ham. Or do you mean getting one point more than those three is big achievement?

Why would we or any team deserve to win it after 7 games, especially in 5th? You don't win anything after 7 games, so it is true we don't deserve to win it. Ask a stupid question.
The question was in response to us NOT deserving to win it, rather than deserving to win it which is what your reply is pointed at. There is a manifest difference which your reply has plainly failed to appreciate.

So maybe not so stupid after all.

Well we're 3 points off the top so we could win it. however given our 2nd half performance against Brentford I would think it would need to be a low points season to do so.

He/she should have said no one deserves to win it yet, rather than basing his hypothesis on City deserving to win due to getting a point ar Arsenal.

Both were silly arguments.

Liverpool were going to run away with it a week or so ago. Now Arsenal are going to run away with it. Would definitely have them as strong favourites as they are playing really well but its all about bottle and seeing it through. We've been there quiet a few times and done it. We are right in it.

Why don't we deserve to win it? we are the top scorers in the league and the only team to score and take points at the Emirates this season.

We cant catch a break with injuries so far!
not with the way we are playing

if we won it playing like this it would say something about the state of the rest of the league......this is the poorest we have been since the first year Pep took over.

If we improve and win it then thats a different story

As for injuries...how long have we been saying we need cover for certain players in certain positions....DM, RB......

3-4 years in terms of Rodri cover, 12 months at least since Kyle Walker fell off a cliff.....and Stones has been injury prone for years....none of that is new and we cant make the excuse of injuries...every team has them nd its upto the club to build a squad that is strong enough to cover the prospect of nijuries

The only question he posed in his post was ‘why don’t we deserve to win it?’ And yet you replied on the basis that he asserted we deserve to win it. Which he did not.

And that poster was replying to someone who positively asserted we didn’t deserve to win it. Which you have asserted in your post is incorrect at this time of the season.

So not sure why you’re having a go at @Ysabel 123

Your comprehension skills are clearly of a high standard, as is your written English, so I’m not sure why you’re struggling to appreciate all this.

Recovery is a process.

We played very well in the 1st half. Brentford are awkward to play and we are the first side to beat them at their ground this season.

We are 3 points off Arsenal and the only team playing better football than City at the moment is Arsenal. Cherki and Marmoush are still to come into the side whilst Rodri should slowly recover. Doku and Bobb look very strong to me.

Rodri went off injured and his talented young back-up came on and did a good job. Are you drunk?

We've got 5 centre backs so can carry an injury prone Stones.

You've got a point about Walker but the rest of your post is daft.

I still have Liverpool as favourites. As we well know, once you've won it once you know how to win it. If you've not done it before, the pressure is intense in the run in. Klopp was a far better manager than Arteta and he cracked once Pep turned the screws and I think Arteta will do the same if Pep/Slot are both at it. I also am starting to think Spurs might be in the mix until late in the season as Frank is a good manager but he knows he can't win the title.

Looking again at the title run ins, Liverpool have a shocker from May with Everton, Palace, United, Chelsea and Villa and they are all banana skin games them. Arsenal isn't much better in April with Bournemouth, us, Newcastle and Palace last game of the season. Ours is MUCH nicer and this could be something which sorts the league out.

I don't know if we will win it, but from what I've seen so far if we are within touching distance in March we will win it. If we don't, I think Liverpool will. Arsenal have done well so far, but they also know that they've also not done it and I think that could really be the key decider.

We’re certainly getting better, but I just don’t trust this team like I used to.
The quality just isn’t as high.
We don’t kill teams off and it will bite us
really need cherki to come to the party and then we might create A bit more
Keep improving, build momentum and confidence and then add some more quality and we will get closer.

I think the vast majority of City fans can see that we are improving. It will take time.

Already this season, we've seen Donnarumma come in and play at a high level. O'Reilly, Khusanov and Doku have been good, and Foden looks like his old self.

Didnt say Nico didnt play well

I was referring to the fact that the post i was replying to was going on about injuries.
Nico played well but there is a palpable difference between him and Rodri which is completely understandable and in part is down to the reaction of the other players on the pitch - but its as clear as day for whatever reason you want to give that when Rodri isnt playing we are not as strong......again that could be down to the other players reactions as much as anything

5 centre halves......
Ake - also always injured
Gvardiol (doesnt play the same side as Stones)

Dias, Khusonov..who is the other?

Again my reply was more about the previous post using the excuse of injuries.

We did play very well in the first half yes....as well as we have played...but lets not get carried away...its Brentford after all and they are not as strong as they have been previous seasons for starts

Fitting Cherki in and marmoush is going to be intersting as both leave us defensively wide open ......If look at playing Cherki wide as he Foden is playing well as the number 10

Marmoush Ive no idea where he fits.....maybe to give haaland a rest at times but other than that as he aint a winger for certain

No and on the way we are playing we dont deserve to.....

Arsenals to lose imho

Hopefully some underdog comes forward and does a leicester as that would be incredibly funny with the ensuing meltdown from the Arsenal fans
For once someone on here has used the phrase “we don’t deserve to” correctly. The table shows that we deserve to be in 5th place.

Towards the end of last season this thread was awash with fannies saying they thought our performances were undeserving of a top four finish and even if we finished in the top 4 we wouldn’t deserve it. The mind boggles.

The remaining games in October are tough but will set us up for the crunch month of November, when we have 4 key games at home and need to make the Etihad a fortress.
