Will we win the league this season?

First they extolled Rodri, Arsenal were given the free hit to nobble him and freely obliged.
Khusanov was becoming one of the best fullbacks in the country and was targeted, Arsenal duly obliged. Now all conversation is on Mr Manchester City, Erling Haaland. He'll be targeted. Now whether he needs a Minder or handles it himself, only the Lord knows.
He will be taken out to hamper City.
This is bullshit

We won't be far away. I do think arsenal are favourites but mentality and momentum trump everything going down the home straight.

We've serious talent coming back from injury. Nico G looks a player worthy of stepping up now. Nunes improving big time. Haaland is hitting a completely different level to anything seen on the league before which is almost impossible. Not to mention Donnaruma who plenty thought was a waste of money (hilarious in hindsight)

We're in far better shape than expected and let's be honest the Brighton game was a brain fart, plus the arsenal late goal, we could be clear at the top while only on 2nd gear.

The unpredictability of football never ceases to amaze

They'll sign Guehi in Jan and that will transform them, but I agree that defensively I don't think they'll resolve their problems enough to win the title this year.

If we can keep the pressure on Arsenal it's very likely they'll fold too. This is Arsenal's best chance to win the league but those mental demons will appear once again if we can run them close.

Even with a much changed squad, with the bit between our teeth we have enough leaders to drive us to the title if we're there or there abouts in Jan.
But why can't we sign Guehi? Or Wharton? Or Semenyo? Why leave them as a free hit for others. Keep being told we've got loads of dirty oil money so let's damn well spend it.

sensitive little petal aren't you
I’m actually about the least sensitive a person can be. My skin is incredibly thick. So the emotion you evoke in me isn’t offence, or disgust. It’s mainly genuine pity.

I’m genuinely sad you don’t seem to have remotely enjoyed this amazing journey we’ve all been on as City fans.

Course we can, beat the toffees next time out and we’re top of the league
We would have to win by 2 goals and we would need Bournemouth to drop points at Palace.

Awkward fixtures for Arsenal and Liverpool a week on Sunday:

Fulham v Arsenal,
Liverpool v Man Utd.

I wonder if you realise that judging someone you dont know at all (not in one slight bit) is at least the slightest bit stupid?

Genuine pity.....really......hahaha....trying to insult someone in such a way is so transparent it really is...you say you are the least sensitive person then you say you have pity.....hmmmm - that doesnt even work. Try again if you want to waste your time. It has zero affect on me. You might as well call me a miserable **** again as that has zero affect as well.

Ive loved every minute of our success....doesnt mean I dont want more and I dont think we can improve.

But according to some on here, if we win in a way that isn't pleasing on the eye... can it really be counted as a win?
Maybe it’s a generation gap situation. Some younger fans, brought up in an era of Sky telling us on a loop what great entertainment the PL is, watch games hoping to be entertained by exciting football and the virtuoso skills on display

As an older fan I’m always entertained when we win no matter how drab the game. If we beat Everton 1-0 with a first minute goal then pass sideways and back for the next ninety minutes I’ll leave the ground happy as Larry.

The dippers have essentially been a one man team since Salah joined them. He was the guy who more often than not made the difference in tight matches. If he’s on the slide it doesn’t matter how many centre halves they buy they won’t win anything.

Salah was the about the best player in the league last season, he may be in decline, but I wouldn't judge off 7 games.

They won every game last time he went to ACON, and we all expected them to suffer. Them conceding goals like under Brendan Rodgers again will be the main cause for decline if there is one.

flavours of the month. 6 months ago it was Baleba and united fans were frothing to spunk £100m on him. same with Evan Ferguson the year before.

Semenyo has been good and steadily improving for a few years now.

2023-24: 8 goals, 3 assists, 29 chances created
2024-25: 11 goals, 6 assists, 48 chances created (to think we looked at Rodrygo who had 6 goals, 5 assists and 48 chances created in an easier league last season)
2025-26: already has 6 goals, 3 assists, 10 chances created

I thought he was one of the best players in the PL last season not already playing for a top side.

Firstly, the only measure of another poster’s character and disposition on a forum is what they post, so that approach is not stupid at all. It’s actually entirely rational.

And secondly if you’d ‘loved every minute’ of the last 8 seasons then you wouldn’t have said seven games in, when we are three points off top, that we don’t don’t deserve to win the league this season. Those simply aren’t the sentiments of someone who has loved every minute of six titles in eight seasons. If you had loved every minute then you wouldn’t post in those terms, so what you have asserted is a lie.

Going to be very tough for us to win the title without a fully fit Rodri but seeing's Haalands performances I think we should be in with a shout

Like I’ve said just stay within reach especially of Arsenal and we’ll run them down in the final straight. Their fanbase are already getting giddy about potentially being champions and we are only 7 games in and they have failed to beat either of the teams who they would consider their main challengers.

How are they going to handle the final 7-8 matches if they have to win week on week knowing that even a point will see them overtaken. The fanbase especially won’t be able to cope and that nervous energy will definitely transmit through to the players.

Discussion of domestic football is shutting down for a week of sportswashing but here's Lineker, Micah and Shearer on this weekend's football. They discuss City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Our task is to keep within striking distance of Arsenal. They have the best squad. It's very unlikely that injuries are going to get them. What may get to them is the pressure of winning a first modern title if we can stay in touch.

For City, I think our side is growing in confidence and beginning to believe. That first 45 minutes at Brentford was very good indeed. It didn't last, but slowly and surely we are coming back. We need more wins and self-belief in what is a new team. Donnarumma, and Haaland have that in abundance. So has Foden, and he's back. Rodri has a minor hamstring injury but that will ease and he'll get more games. And we still have to harness Marmoush and Cherki.
