William Carvalho

O Jogo reporting that Sporting would sell him for €25 million, which is a reasonable price in today's market.

The links with City are tenuous, only that he has signed Pep's brother as his agent, but this would be a good addition/upgrade if we fail to find another better candidate for the position.

Pep's previous pivots were never blessed with pace though. Alonso and Busquets looked like they had fridges on their backs when moving. Slow players know where to position themselves to accommodate for their lack of quick mobility.
True, but a lack of pace in defensive midfield whilst playing a high line is a killer in the Premier League.

Don't really watch him much but would he be a suitable replacement and/or understudy to Dinho? I love Fernandinho but his performances have been sort of uneven for me this season.

Haven't seen him much, but reminds me a bit of Tom Huddleston who looked pretty decent to me but never quite made it.

Agreed, that was the problem with Javi Garcia, look fine in a slower league, but looked like he was running through treacle sometimes in the PL.
