Willian and Fernandinho

I think he is off to United.

They need that box to box midfielder like we have Yaya.

The only reason I see him coming here is to be a rotation player with Yaya, because it is getting to a point now when Yaya just cannot play every game, he gets too tired. He needs someone who can rotate with him and give him a little rotation.

We still need that holding midfielder next to Yaya like De Rossi first though.

Could someone explain what type of player Fernandinho is?

Thanks.

Think a Brazillian Yaya - box to box midfielder.

fernandinho is not a box to box. he's a DM , a midrange between a poor player like garcia and a good one like de rossi

I don't know, everytime I watched Shakhtar in the Chanpions League, he wa bombing up and down the pitch box to box like Yaya usually does.

If anything I saw more of him in the final third than anywhere else on the pitch.

I think if we are signing him, he will be a player to rotate with Yaya, we cannot go on playing him every game, he needs rest times and competition.

Just need De Rossi to play alongside one or the other then!

Man hunt: United join City in pursuit of Shakhtar fire-starter Fernandinho

Both clubs now in the race for the £16.5million-rated midfielder - after Manchester City thought they had a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk

Manchester City and United are locked in a battle to sign Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho, aka Fernando Luiz Rosa, in January.

The Premier League champions thought they had an agreement with the Shakhtar Donestk star to move to Eastlands.

But now Sir Alex Ferguson has entered the race for the playmaker rated at Euro 20m (£16.5m).

The Ukrainian champions do not need to sell financially and coach Mircea Lucescu is determined to keep together the squad which has reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.

As with Tottenham target William, Shakhtar would be more willing to do business at the end of the European season. But Fernandinho, 27, is keen to move on after eight seasons in Ukraine and has the choice of the top two teams in the Premier League.
