I also like sparkling rose (despite not liking still rose)

Same this end (re rioja). After spending most of my life pretty much only drinking Guinness started getting into my riojas last year, nice to have a bit of variety. Definitely recommend the Navajas reserva if you can get hold. Lovely stuff.

Tried a 2015 Baron de Ley Reserva ..Rioja. marked 9 /10 for me.

Not an expert and don’t buy expensive, so...

White: Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer
Red: Doro, Malbec, Cahors (same grape as Malbec), Rioja, Primitivo.
Rosé: Rarely drink it.

One of my favourites is Trapiche Oak Cask Malbec it made in Mendoza Argentina .
It’s £9 in Tesco but goes down to £6 sometimes ,a nice dark smooth wine that’s brilliant with cheese and crackers.
