Spent a week last year in Tuscany for my brother-in-law’s 60th, he’s got a few quid and had hired a huge mansion for a load of us to go over. Now he’s a proper wine buff, irritating in some ways, but hat off he knows his shit. I’d never heard of a Brunello until then, which is from the region of Tuscany we were at. He’d bought fucking loads of the stuff and had it brought into the house. I’ve never drank as much red wine in that week in my life, it was never ending.
Have to say, if anyone fancies a splurge and you’re a fan of a Barolo, then it’s worth giving it a whirl. Cheapest you can get it over here appears to be around £30 a bottle but it’s certainly not one you see readily around.
