Winter Break

i think if you go back to the 70s you will find that teams played more games than we do today i havent counted the amount of games but the Division 1 had more teams and the league cup was two legged also to add to this the state of the pitches in jan-march were shocking, no we dont need a winter break

If you have a winter break in England it fucks everything up. The league will start early and will end later. I think they should of got rid of this fixture now. To play for most teams 2 games in 2 days is just too much football. If they are to have a winter break then the Carling Cup should be knocked on the head. Play whatever games they play in the winter to the nights of the Carling Cup. If they were to get rid of the Carling Cup there would be a lot of happy managers in the league. As seen most of the top teams use it to give games to the squad players. Also the teams battling to stay in the league do the same thing. Just get rid of that Cup and then everything will be grand.

The positives of not having a winter break leading into the World and Euros the English league normally finishes ahead of most of the other leagues in Europe. So for Englands chances at the Worlds or Euros it would be best to keep the season as it is.

OK, when would you suggest the break takes place?
Bear in mind that Christmas and New Year fixtures generally attract the largest crowds

Dump all the pointless international friendlies at the beginning of the season and let us play league matches instead. After the agony of NOTHING TO DO all bloody summer, the season finally gets going, only to stop dead for some poxy international that no-one gives a flying f* about.

It doesn't need to be a very long break like Germany, 2 weeks is enough. End the season 2 weeks later. Do it in the freeze of January if clubs are worried about losing the apparent big gates during the holidays.

Start of Jan, mid or end?
Remember the FA Cup 3rd round is scheduled to take place in Jan and also the CC Semi

It's not that many months since the complaints about the Cup Final being held before the end of the season. Delay that end of season, and the FA Cup will lose even more of its magic.
