Witsel, Vertonghen, De Bruyne

He's been used a lot as a defensive midfielder for Belgium but as a defender for Ajax, I'm guessing Bobby would be signing him as a defender but if De Jong gets hurt or suspended, he could play in front of Kompany and Lescott.

I fear that we might not get another LB...if Vertonghen is meant to be cover for LB too.

Then we to have Kola as our first-choice LB...and with Vertonghen as cover.

But tbh...i think Vertonghen isn't a really good LB. He is a CB. Much more suited to that role.

Then again..that article says we are going to try to prise Baines away. So maybe we are looking for another Cb + LB.

I could see Mancinis logic here. We would have Richards as our zabba as our right-backs. Boateng cb but could cover RB.

LB: Kola and someone else, and vertonghen Cb, but he could cover for Lb as 3rd choice. This would be great depth :D

Vertonghen is a center half. He isn't quick or agile enough to play LB except in emergencies.

He plays left back ofen for Begium and has done it a few times for Ajax. It isn't his prefered position, but he is adequate and has a footballing mind, so he links up well I am not worried.

Not really. It is possible Kolo is done anyways, which will leave us witht the same # as this season. With Boyata sill developing we could end up with Komps/Lescott/Boateng/ Jan Vat ( yep I named him already).
And Jan can deputize at LB if Kolarov is out.
