Yeah. It’s a special worry for me, so I may be just more affected than most. Once we start playing it may help distract me from those fears.

I hope that is the case, anyway, as football has been a big part of my life since I was very little and no longer being able to play, coupled with the stunted version available to watch now, has really affected me.
Understand. Not sure what age bracket you fall into, but I am in my early 60s with underlying medical issues, so al always conscious of the world around me right now.

As you say though, once we get going, it will give us a temporary respite from the real world

Need to nail this and blow Wolves away. Don't want a hoodoo starting after last season's defeats.

Seeing out my late-30’s but it’s the same for me as I also have medical issues that make getting COVID potentially life-threatening and mean I can’t play football at all (not just because of the risk of infection). I’ve played since I was old enough to be aware of what football was, getting to a decent level before knee injuries ended my competitive career early, but still played in Sunday league and even ran a large drop in football group here in the US (Boston) for a few years after coming here.

This year has been the worst of my life for many reasons, so although it seems trivial, losing the football I have known and loved has really had an impact.

I am sure I am not alone there.

But, as you say, hopefully all of that will improve come Monday. I am forcing myself to watch this weekend’s matches, including a hate-watch of the London Glasshouse Derby, to hopefully bring some of that interest and excitement back.

Here’s hoping we tear Wolves apart, with KDB assisting and scoring 4... since I have him captained in my FPL team. :-)

What I will say about this season, I think the title winner will be a mid-to-high 80s reverting to type kinda season.

There are so many new variables because of behind closed doors, teams such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton and Spurs all seemingly ready to compete more.

That can only be good news for us because it was the top teams we struggled to make the difference against last season.

I suppose what I'm hopefully saying, Liverpool can drop a lot more points this season simply because the league will tighten up.

City just need not panic, the last three seasons have been a freak.

Also, I think injuries will be more of a factor given the compressed schedule and lack of pre-season. I'd like to say that favours us because we have a deeper squad, but we need to buy at least a CB and beat the form of the past few years where we have had far more injuries than Scousers or Chelsea.

Never even thought about the injury issues across the league, which is where our quality in reserve might also prove an advantage.

Whereas last season I felt only ourselves and Chelsea could realistically take points from Liverpool, we also now have Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, United and Wolves who can have a fair shot.

Pretty bad that we're hoping/relying on others to take points off Liverpool to have a chance at winning rather than relying on ourselves.

It's not bad at all. As stated, the last three seasons are not the new bench mark.

It has been a result of two excellent teams who have had the entire playing field to themselves and beaten the opposition before they got on the field.

I don't expect it to continue for the reasons I have suggested.

It crept up on us first last season because the consistency to hit 100 points and then 98 was just a race that would inevitably see a downward gear shift trajectory.

Liverpool have gone 97/99. The third season (and as Champions) was always going to be a huge test, even before factoring in the improvements made by other clubs and games continuing behind closed doors.

We have had little assistance in this league for three seasons but believe the scales are being balanced and reset.

I said this to everyone last season when they all said we let Liverpool win the tittle, they all let them win it by being shit.

Spot on TH. If 100 points was to be beaten it was last season! Our record will survive for a long time IMO

This is a horrible fixture to start the season off. Decent team Wolves although them not having Joto might've cancelled out us not having Sergio. I'd be happy with a draw TBH and over the moon with a win.Them being one of the hateful 8 will add a little spice to it.Whether the players feel the same way as we do is hard to predict but might be worth Pep saying it prematch to remind the lads they hate us.

Now that Fergie isn't there to put the fear of God into him, Atkinson has turned into a decent ref at Old Trafford.

Final nudge for our late night/southern hemisphere members...

Away teams seem to be doing ok so far this season. Let’s hope we can keep that going.

Undoubtedly the league looks too tighten up this year, but hoping Liverpool will drop points because of it is a dangerous game. It's up to us to do better, and trying to be positive I'll just say we need a bit more teeth this year.
