Bernardo is captain so I'd guess he will start the season, I just hope Gundogan and Akanji are left on the bench.

Khusanov is unlucky but will get his chance soon when Stones inevitably gets injured. Right back is such a glaring issue in the squad that needs addressing.

I would go with that same starting 11, but Pep may go for Gundo rather than Gonzalez. That front 3 of Cherki, Haaland and Marmoush looks very exciting, a mix of pace, creativity and goals. Can't wait for tomorrow, looking forward to it.

This is what I don't understand about those lineup starting Stones. We all know he will inevitably get injured, so why not start Khusanov now and get him settled in whilst Gvardiol is out. I love Stones and he's the best CB at the club, but should be used in emergencies only as long as he's here as we are all just waiting on the next injury.

If we only use him in emergencies, we'll be royally fucked if he then gets injured. Far better to play him when he's fit and hope/pray he stays that way. He is by far our best CB when fit

He played 90 minutes last time we played them and we won 1-0. Time before that he played 4 minutes at the end of the game in which time we scored the winner. Can’t of been that bad.

But you know 1 bad game equals a whole season for some.

so lets assume none of Kova, Savinho, Gvardiol is in the squad tomorrow with injuries, but Foden, Rodri are in but they wont start (saw them in recent training pics, so they may not be 100% fit but could easily play 15 mins maybe)

Pep needs to leave 5 of these out of match squad still:

Ake, Akanji, Stones, Dias, AitNouri, Nunes, Lewis, Khusanov

I crossed out 3 that is easy choice kind of (Ortega might disagree), but a 4th and 5th one is tricky, Pep might tell Foden or Rodri that better not risk you and make you travel.:)

otherwise it will be two of Bobb, OReilly, Lewis, Khusanov really. Bobb imo should make the squad when Savinho is out of it.

Not a particular fan of high and wide fullbacks - seems Pep is bent on it, but I‘d prefer us to play with (at least) three proper defenders.

Feels like Cherki might be wasted out wide on the right - but can hopefully find a way of linking / interchanging with Bernardo.

First game of the season can be a hard one to call. All the pre season optimism flowing. We are likely to be a little undercooked for this one and may tire late on so hopefully we start well.

Wolves finished last season pretty well and gave us 2 difficult games last season. Hard to know what team Pep will pick but regardless we should still have enough. After what feels like an age since the Club World Cup it will great to see us back on the pitch. Reijnders has looked great so far, let’s hope he shows that kind of form from the start of the season.

That is some CRAZY “logic”!!

I’m thinking, he should be used once a week, if fit, and have his fitness and recovery managed to get the best out of him. That doesn’t mean encasing him in glass and putting him on the shelf with a “Break In Case Of Emergency” sign on his glass case!!!
