I saw them too. Many times. As I say, it's my considered opinion, and it was a difficult choice to make. Defensively, Watson and Doyle were very strong. They could not possibly have been expected to do the creative work the later pairing did, in 2021-22 and 2022-23 — and they wouldn't have known where to start, honestly. Of course, the game has changed very considerably.

It’s only a problem when our back four play a suicidal high line and get themselves abandoned in the opponents half when we get hit on the break. Quit the high line and the problem is solved.
