Which game were you watching? I was at the game and at no point did I think we looked shaky against Newcastle, we controlled the game, they were always going to get a few chances, but I felt comfortable throughout the whole game
Fair enough and you are entitled to that view. Imo we looked a little uncomfortable before the second goal was scored. Newcastle had a few efforts, most notably the 1 ruled offside.

The defence in general this season is giving up chances to the opposition. I am not saying we cant defend, the standards set by John and Ruben last season have been hard to replicate. Fern is a fantastic player and if we need someone to stand up and be counted it is him.

In summary, I don’t think we can get through the next 3 games relying on the defence to shut out the opposition.

That alternative sounds much riskier, Rodri and Fernandinho together you mean? I'd fear the worst if Pep starts changing formation to fix the problem
Or Rodri and Bernardo dropping deep alongside him, which he's done a few times recently.

It's tough, but I'd rather play this line than rush Aké back in. If he's not 100% and we fuck up his injury it'll leave us with only Laporte fit for the remainder of the season.
There is a plus. Fern will not be required to cover as much ground at CB. His range of passing and tactical and positional nous are as good as we have. I have no doubts about him starting and partnering Laporte. Our back 4 will do fine.

If we have to play Dinho at centre back for the Wolves game then it is not a disaster , he played there a couple of seasons ago and we only suffered because we missed his presence in the middle of the park , we now have a consistent and commanding Rodri to play defensive midfield.
No doubt Wolves would love to scupper our chances but that goes for every club , one thing about the Premier league there are no gimme's , expect a park the bus performance from their manager similar to the one at the Etihad earlier in the season, could be a long night but quite sure we can nick a goal from somewhere and then keep the back door shut.

Get out there and smash the fuckers. Leeds, Newcastle, Wolves, Hammers, Villa. Average teams at best, should be fined for daring to take us on.
