Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Was expecting Foden and Haaland to come on and prove a point about being dropped but both strolled around showing zero fucks as is thier most recent output.

Comfortable win and exactly what we needed after an awful week. Not the most entertaining of games, but the result was more important than the performance.

8 of Wolves' 9 shots in the 2nd half were after the hour mark.

Foden came on in the 61st minute and Haaland came on in the 73rd minute.

So no, they weren't better the moment the 2nd half started.
they clearly were more in the game right from the start of the second half...

your view is oversimplified as this was a very easy and predictable narrative after the game that someone was going to try to build

You dont take into account that Wolves made subs or the fact that all season we have been poorer in the second half of games -
you dont take into account that most teams that come to our place and are a goal or two down with 25 mins or so start to try and push more and take chances whereas they didnt int he first half.....

you dont take into account that Rodri starts to get tired (unsurprisingly) or that so does Bernardo does around that point in the game

I would say nice try but its such a transparent narrative that I wont

Nice and boring. How I like it. Would have been 4-0 on another day if Marmoush and Semenyo's two woodwork efforts had gone in. We dealt with Wolves better than Arsenal did.

A bit slow in the second half but I imagine that had something to do with Rodri's engine slowing and City needing to leave some gas in the tank for Wednesday.

Impressed by Guehi.
You are so right that we dealt with Wolves far better than c Pep " best team in the world ". I had been to see my bf who lives 32 miles away, so I listened to the Arse Wolves commentary game driving bCk. There was a tense, worried atmosphere in that stadium that night and but for a second og Wolves would have had a draw that night. As we all know the festive fixture list was very kind ( putting it mildly) to Arse and that lucky win helped them get some more fortuitous wins at home.

But yes, they really struggled against a gritty Wolves, so we should be pleased. And no goals conceded.

Can we sign a mid this window? Bernie, much as I love him and will miss him will be gone next season, Rodri hasn't got legs anymore ( bless) so we need enforcer replacements ASAP.

Can Marc do midfield like Jonny Boy? That ball to Anto7ne was sublime and deserved an assist.

So although we fell off, Rome not built in a day and much improved on Rags and Bodo games.

A win is a win . We imposed our authority on them in the 2nd half even though they came into it more and were prepared to mix it up with us physically. We defended resolutely when we had to.
Semenyo knows where the goals are. He will get more as he goes along. Haaland gets a run out. Foden is ready for mid week. Guehí had a solid performance and looked quite comfortable- huge block at the end there. He does give the players around him a boost in confidence. Khushanov didn't put a foot wrong. Same with OReilly . Rodri getting back. Nunes solid enough. Marmoush
scoring with a quality goal. Bernardo the little engine. Reijnders calm composed did nothing wrong. Cherki very good in parts. Doku had a reasonably good game for the time he was on. Although the tackle on him raking his achilles when seen in slo motion does look bad. But he's OK. Donnarumma reliable .
Lots to like

3 points is what matters, decent start for new signing. first half we did OK, second thought we were poor. Couldn't keep the ball. A shame but a shadow of the team we were but I think we all know that. However we are a young group and with time who know. Reijinders is struggling!!!!
Think the sub of haaland coming on was pointless. He needs a good rest, did nowt when he came on but again the service ain't great. Bit negative I know, things need to improve if we want to win anything, injuries haven't helped!!
