It may not be high up in the club's season ambitions but for those players involved tonight its a golden opportunity to show what they can do and for them its the most important match of their season, so we owe it to them at least to really get behind them

Sorry if already mentioned earlier in thread but anyone know why we kick off at 8 when ever else is 7.45?? We’re not in TV so can’t be that. If we need extra time or pens it means a late finish for players & fans.

I didn’t see us win anything for more than 20 years of watching city.
If there’s silverware at stake, I want it.
Our squad is more than capable of competing on all fronts this season.
Momentum / confidence and continuing this winning run and mentality is also there for the taking.

The domestic treble is on this year! That would be superb!
Imagine going into a champions league final with a domestic treble in the bag ;)

Not sure whether a Wolves fan has given you guys a run down yet but I'm going to give one anyway.

This year we have gotten a new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, former Porto and Valencia manager. He has adopted a 3-4-3 formation since joining the club and we look really well drilled and organised. We currently sit top of the championship after 13 games with 29 points, playing some of the best football I've seen down the Wolves in my lifetime. I'm not expecting a win today, Man City look comfortably the best-attacking side I've seen in the Premier League at the moment, so even if we lose by a lot it puts us on par with most Prem teams I guess. I'm not sure how Nuno will set out for this game if I'm honest, he might play a full-strength side but may think otherwise as getting out of the championship is a lot more important. If he plays a full strength side it would be something along the lines of: Ruddy, Miranda, Coady, Batth, Douglas/Vinagre, Doherty, Neves, Saiss, Jota, Bonatini/Costa, Cavaleiro (However, I expect a mix of the first team and second team to be used for today's game). Danger players will be Diogo Jota, currently on loan from Athletico Madrid, scoring 7 goals so far this season. Leo Bonatini, on loan from Al-Hilal, scoring 7 and assisting 4 so far this season (His link-up play is very good). The midfield two of Neves and Saiss have also been very good for us this season, spreading the play well and picking out long passes to our wingbacks. If you are interested in seeing how we play this is a link to arguably our best performance this season against Aston Villa: (Just watching the buildup to the second goal with the flick from Neves and then Jota gliding past Terry fills me with joy ahah). Good luck for the game, I'm absolutely buzzing for it and can't wait.

World Cup is on in June. So no, they can't rest in June.
They need to be rested when they can throughout the season.

You don't want them burnt out for the title run in do you? The high press tactic takes it out of you.
It was said slightly tongue in cheek. I know they were feeling the Napoli game in their legs against Burnley and that it would be unusual to go full strength for a league cup game, but I’d just love to play every game if I were a player. I also want us to win every single game we play and thought “going weak” against Unitd last season cost us momentum and gave it to them. Anyway, we should have a decent side out tonight, regardless of who plays. We have a seriously strong squad. 5-0 City.

Thanks for that...Enjoy the game (but not too much)!

thanks for that, mate, very interesting.

i have you in mind as being a bogey-team for us.
you used to beat us all the time in the 80's and 90's.

just had a quick glance at the overall stats...
played 116 games.
city wins 46.
wolves wins 46.
drawn 24.

good luck tonight.

Rotation isn't just about resting key players, it's about squad players playing their way into the first 11.

The likes of Danilo, Gundogan, Bernardo are all more than capable of being regulars in the first 11. There's also the likes of Sterling, Jesus, Sane and Aguero who are competing for positions. Add to the fact players who still have a point to prove in Bravo, Mangala and even Zinchenko.

I'd heavily rotate for this game with the focus on extending the lead at the top of the PL at the weekend.

I would too, but not as far as 11 players. You need someone like Bernardo to dictate possession. Mentality is the key tonight. They must play with the same intensity they would if it was a league game, because Wolves will definitely be up for it. It will be a taste of what they are playing for next season. I remember Wolves as Div one club last season I think, or quite recently playing in the Cup at Anfield and they were very impressive. I do think it is a matter of time before they are back in the Premier League.

Looks like only about a 1000 tickets left so nearly a sell out if the smoke from the fire doesn't affect arrival at the ground.

Do you really want to see 11 changes?

I was thinking that players like Aguero and Bernardo needed games. Delph also could play in midfield and maybe play Zinchenko at left back.

We need to keep winning and we can play a much-changed team and still win, but 11 changes from Saturday would be too much. I hope that that is just mind games.

I hope to see widespread changes if I'm honest. I'm really worried about us burning out. I'd like to see 8, 9 changes personally.

Only downside in rotation is if we slip up and the rags go on to win it, still think our cover players need the run out and Mangala might be needed sooner than a few of the youngsters, who knows he may have gained confidence under Pep, Delph has been a revelation and there were some who wanted to see him go not so long ago

Will you really care if United win the league cup and we win the league or CL? Much better to give ourselves the best opportunity to compete in both those comps and to do so we need to squad rotate.

Not funny I know BUT......WING FAT Wharehouse Fire.......is affecting roads and traffic.
Ashton Old Road is closed in Beswick.
