Seeing a very similar pattern to the men’s team — gain possession, then look up to see no channel runs aside from the CF, pass back, sideways, back, sideways, eventually lose the ball.

Repeat.

I understand Pep generally likes to avoid an open match as it leads to more chances for the opposition (based on less possession and control), but I still do not quite understand our seeming extreme aversion to counters when we have a 4v4 or 4v3 (with most of our team still back to defend) this and last season.

The exceptions actually show it, as we often don’t seem to know exactly what to do when we do counter quickly. A great example would be the counter Kev led yesterday, where he made an uncharacteristically poor pass and the chance went.

Just the huff, no puff, and very little end product. With the players we have we should be putting together a far more dynamic game. The Possession Is Everything Tactic is just bloody boring! Never used to be like this, and we have better options with this squad.
