Yes I do agree with your points Dave. Just my opinion but like the men's team it gets frustrating at times. Caroline Weir has so much going for her but seems always to want to do a full circle with the ball to get it onto her left foot which slows down any momentum and Keira Walsh although I don't know what her instructions are seems to have gone into her shell. Nigel was a tackler and ball winner but Walsh seems more timid . You have probably seen more than me but would she be better further forward?
She doesn't seem to have a great deal of pace within her game so I think her best position is where she plays. When she does get forward she can be quite ruthless, witness some of the goals she has scored, but she must be under strict instructions not to stray!

I get frustrated too, I think Keira Walsh is a great player and her passing is outstanding, but she seems happy just too sit in front of the back four and play short back /sideways 1,2's with players. When she as the skill to hit 30/40 yard pin point passes. Sunday I thought she was anonymous for most of the game, but like some have said , maybe that's her instructions ?

One thing I do agree with the pundits on is that we have to improve the service to Ellen White who isn’t carrying much of a goal threat at the moment. She worked hard and created some space for others without ever looking like scoring or setting up another team member. One goal so far this season for somebody who is usually prolific speaks for itself.
We never seem to get forward with the cavalry. We need the out and out forwards reinforced with a few from the midfield. Whenever we get the ball up front, the player on the ball often seems to have to wait and hold up the play until her mates arrive. We have lost a fair bit of 'fluidity' over the last couple of seasons which comes, I think, with having options in the final third - and that only comes with a few more bodies available.

Pauline Brewer was a more marauding type centre forward who we haven’t replaced. I think Ellen White would get the goals though if she got much better service. Likewise, Stanway hasn’t had great service when she’s played upfront but she has a better all round game.

Yeah, Pauline was the type who would turn defences but I think she left 'cos EW was the number one option. EW needs much better support than she often gets. She's a great finisher and should be set up more often.

Personally, and I've said it on here, her position needs a second person there to have better control. That mid needs it's triangle rotated as it's Walsh and Mewis and Weir in front. The Women are at 4-3-3 and, in the league, they tend to lose this mid battle against teams like Arsenal and Chelsea, who flood the mid.

Should be 4-5-1, Walsh partnering Weir who should be deep lying playmaker, but she drives forward as much as Mewis, at times, leaving the mid in trouble on the counter. Mewis being box-to-box is her natural game, so can't have both her and Weir doing this at times.

Ellen White is fine to work off being the hold-up striker and having the wingers and Mewis work off her.

Needs working on, is all.

That's the only issue I have, really.
