man (woman) of the match for me was Georgia Stanway, seemed to be everywhere
She was, but I found her quite frustrating with her decision making, and she was guilty of giving the ball away.

I found much of the game frustrating after the whirlwind start, we were getting in behind them on both sides for 15 minutes, then stopped trying, stopped the good movement, and just played it in front of them and let them sit deep. I thought Kelly's influence was the best of the team, until she was moved to the left.

Stanway give it away once or twice but wasn't the worst, but one thing about her , she's a battler and I thought she was one of the few (Weir and Chloe Kelly also) that took the game to Fiorentina. But sometime after a good run of games you get a bad one , so hopefully this was the one !

Kelly was WOTM for me. Yes she was quiet in the 2nf half but she was tremendous in the first 45 and put the third on a plate for Mewis IIRC.

Hemp always seems to play well these days and Stanway put in a fine shift. White was excellent in the box but her link up play is very ordinary, so I prefer it when she stays up front.

I think the problem is who she replaces, but we can't have a talent like that going to waste imho.
Can’t see her sticking around to keep the bench warm. I hope the manager knows what he’s doing because she’s a world class player.

Weir has great forward thrust doesn’t she? Kelly incisive too. Really enjoy watching them both.

I was hoping for a ball just to fall right for her to it one . Like I said, I wasn't sure why she when off , she was one of our better players I thought. Not having a at her but thought Coombs was having a quiet game and that's the one I would of took off .

With the superb quality of the players, we should play “consistently” at the highest level. Unfortunately this is not the case as we sporadically play good football. I am afraid it is down to the coach with questionable selection of players and tactics. For example, why did he stick the entire game with Coombs? She was the weak link, slow with poor decisions. Coombs also played 90 minutes against Birmingham, and she was OK, but didn’t excel. I admit I haven’t seen much of her before, but I still wonder what she brings to the team to stick with her 180 minutes in two consecutive games. Also, as mentioned here, moving Kelly to the left was not the smartest idea. We have a great opportunity to win the Super League, but it won’t be shocking if we didn’t because of the coach’s limitations. I will be very happy if he proves me wrong.

I'm not sure, but isn't she only here on a one season contract anyway, maybe we'll play her more if we progress in this, as that is a stage she will lap up.

That’s quite the bold statement. Women goalkeepers are much smaller and dare I say it, generally not very good

That may be the case, but you still have to, intelligently, know the force and angle to head the ball.

We've all seen Foden sky a relatively simple header! That's panic, not control. Sterling is another, out of the forwards, that's generally awful but he seems to have improved a touch, of late.

White, Hemp, Houghton and Mewis are generally pretty good with their head.

A bit harsh that, they were battering them all of the first half, just because they haven't scored again doesn't make them awful.

The second half not as good as the first but still awful is harsh.
The lasses managed their standard once-a-match trademark - our corner and within a handful of passes it's back to Roebuck. We have some very talented players who seem not to have been given any measure of individuality. Everything seems to be an offering to the God of Possession. The Rose of Cincinatti attempted a couple of Silva-esque spins and seemed to be getting Fiorentina onto the back foot in their defensive areas and it always looked promising when she was on the ball. I've added a third aspect that marks the women's game from the men's - they lack the pace and power of the men, and today the women's touches to kill the ball and move the momentum forward was often lost, with the ball bouncing off a foot or a shin. But I''ll settle for 3-0 in a first leg any day!

How the hell is Rose Lavelle not getting into this team? She’s a top player.
You have to assume Taylor doesn't think she warrants a place.

White started the season out of the team quite a bit and is now a featuring player, so we know Taylor will change his mind on someone if he thinks they're worth it.

Mewis came in and cleared out Scott, so we know Taylor is willing to drop someone for a more impressive player.

Lavelle isn't in the team (yet), so Taylor mustn't think she's the best fit (right now). The players currently playing are of a high level atm.

From what I knew of Lavelle before she joined City, was that she's an awesome dribbler but she's not the best in terms of possession retention on a wider level, and isn't the best tactically. It's possible that she just needs more time to settle in, similarly to players like Cancelo for the men's team. Of course, unlike Cancelo, it's very possible Lavelle won't be here next season to reap the rewards of settling.

Hopefully she comes good at some point before she goes, because the talent is off the charts. If we're still in the CL and battling for the WSL then even for a small number of games a top form Lavelle could be a difference maker.

Sorry mate, you’re talking about a superstar of women’s football. If she leaves due to lack of game time this will be a huge dropped bollock by the manager.

You don't think this is a demand of top management then?

From youth to woman to 1st team all playing a possession-based system?

Mind I think it is a bit trite to complain about it when the men are equally happy to pass it back to the keeper from what looks like a good position going forward.

They lack the pace and power of men, not a great surprise I guess :)
