Lack of height was what stopped Harry from being a real top class goalkeeper.

He was replaced by Joe Corrigan (forgetting the year and a bit where Ken Mulhearn took his place) yet Harry ‘looked’ a better goalkeeper than Joe.

The problem was that Harry would appear to have a great game if City lost 3-2 while Joe would appear to have a stinker with City winning 2-1.
A rather important year in our history, though!

No apparently only chelsea had players missing, it must be true I heard it several times on the bbc
No forgetting the " Ahem " nailed on penalty denied the chavs that was repeatedly mentioned, apparently this would have totally changed the match ??? Let's not talk about the City pen and the total second half domination.

Unfortunately he was very inconsistent. Hemp is a beast in the women`s game and so consistent too.
I haven't seen a full back this season who could honestly say they had her in their pocket. Once she puts on the afterburners there's no one who has that pace in any defence I've seen. I'm giving GT a stay of execution after that game yesterday. It's becoming clearer after whipping the Rags twice, beating Tottenham like we should have done at the start of the season, and now wiping the grin off Emma Hayes' face at last, that it was the injuries that did for us at the beginning of the season.

I`ve never seen a team start the season with so many injuries. Roebuck and Bardesley being out especially.

City’s fortunes haven’t just coincided with players returning from injury but also playing Stanway in positions where she can help to dominate the game.
To be fair, they're pretty much the same thing. Stanway wasn't playing in her best position because we needed her to play everywhere else due to the injury crisis

To be fair he did score a very important goal in City’s history, that is largely forgotten about. Stoke at home 98/99. Think they’d have gone 10 clear if they’d have beaten us.
Not sure that justifies him being one of our managers. If we replicated that, then we’d have Dickov as our mens’ team manager.

Theres a club, somewhere, that has tested that model. It didn’t go particularly well, from what I can remember ;-)

Maybe so mate. I think we could have accepted playing another Blue at fullback to get Stanway into the action. Beckie and Raso could do that job IMHO, or possibly somebody in the reserves / youth team, although the Australian has been a revelation at right wing in recent games.

In fairness Dave , Emma Hayes did say that the best team won on the day.

Whilst some don't like her, she knows her stuff and has established a good set up at Chelsea, even if they do spend big to get the better players like Harder and Kerr.

Yeah, you might be right mate, but as we'd played Stanway at fullback before, it may just have been a case of someone we knew we could rely on. Thankfully we're almost back to full strength again

I’m not Emma Hayes’ biggest fan either but she can take a defeat better than the BBC commentary team and is a real asset to the women’s game.

To those who are more knowledgeable about WSL , is there any kind of spending cap or FFP ?

Players seem to move around without much mention of transfer fees etc .

There definitely used to be a spending cap and in particular what you could pay in wages as a proportion of turnover which is why Lyon could attract better players than we could as they dont have these restrictions in France.

If it’s still like that don’t know.
