Have to admit I was surprised by Bunny's form in the cup final. To be honest most of the displays I've seen from her left me feeling that I could understand why Ellen White starts instead.
Difficult to get any sort of form when you're in and out of the team so much. League scheduling doesn't help either. She could regularly go 4 or 5 weeks without a game with the muppet we have picking the team.

White scored 4 goals in the league all season 22 games.

Shaw 3 in 9 games.

Including cup games White was 10 goals in 34 games and Shaw 11 in 14 games, I mean White obviously deserved those extra 20 games.

Now you wonder why we want to see the back of Taylor, he was a shit player and an even shitter youth coach and he is once again proving that the first two weren't an accident by being shit at managing ladies as well.

I don't, particularly, like Taylor as I think he's poor as a manager, but I can see what he's trying to do, tactic-wise.

Where I disrespect him is for not changing the right players at the right time within the team.

Sometimes it's really head scratching.

like I said he is a shit manager, our season was only saved due to how good some of the squad are and the fact we got the injured players back, he proved that without good players he could not get a result and even then he was picking the most random of teams and leaving good players on the bench or playing hem needlessly out of position.

I know we are a top team in the ladies' game but I'd rather we went with a Jill Scott/Steff Houghton management team than another season with this twunt.

It is something we will never really know but all these players leaving at once, does make you wonder about the motive, probably a bit of everything but he has to figure into that reason as well tbh.

We will see what happens next season with our new signings.

It will be interesting to see if Taylor sticks to picking White if, as rumoured, we sign Castellanos - who by the way is a top striker. The way he has utilised new signings in the past doesn't fill me with hope. Ellen White has been decent for us but in the last year it is clear as day she appears to be only focussed on the Euro's and her club form is woeful - so Taylor made her captain!

Shaw on the other hand seemed to be the player Taylor was quick to drop or take off, having said that I think she needs to work a bit on her overall fitness. Personally I hope she stays and White is moved on although I doubt that will happen.

Overall I think this year will be a last chance for Taylor - he will oversee a squad refreshed, but how he pieces the new players together as a unit will be key to how we perform. He needs to have a plan and stick to it. We have pace, youth and some of the new signings look very promising - I know some are upset by losing the old guard but as with the mens team it's all about constant evolvement. Question is - Is Taylor the man to lead the revolution? - I don't have much faith that he is but we shall see.

Stanway and Weir are a huge hole to fill and not just old guard.

Scott and the keepers are fair enough, though I still thought Scott had a little left in the locker but she needs to play more to keep her England place.

Steff will be next no doubt but I will be really annoyed if we don't get her on the management track with us in some capacity.

The Women’s team has been a stop gap for many players to recover from injury between England tournaments. I respect players prioritising their national team but it’s cost us several trophies. We need a more balanced squad where City is the priority.

100% agree re Steff, the club will be missing a trick if they don't fast track her into coaching first, then possibly management.

Jill Scott as one of the first signings more than did her job - age just catches up to all and given that the game has moved on I believe it was the right time to let her leave.

Re Weir and Stanway I agree they are holes to fill but despite their respective talents (no one will argue that) I think we need a more balanced midfield unit. Mewis kind of glued it together but at times last year even during the impressive late run of wins we looked a little disjointed as a team. For me Losada and Angeldahl should have bigger roles and I hope that Blakstad will be played other than a left wing back alternative. Keeping Walsh here and happy will be a key but I do think we have the pieces to build an exciting team - as I said though do we have a good enough manager to implement it?

City should have hired Jill Ellis and put Steph in as her no2.

You're right.

Also, whilst appreciating that this is the Womens Team thread, similar thoughts must be made by opposition fans when we buy the likes of Haaland after successfully defending the title.
I didn’t say it was wrong. The onus is on clubs like Arsenal and ourselves to match them. The gap in resources between Chelsea and everyone else isn’t that significant. They simply seem more committed to the womens game.

It's not just about resources - Chelsea Women - have their shit together - like our men's team, they are acting from a position of strength... the core of the team is strong and you can be selective in who you add to the squad.

Our women's team is undergoing some sort of meltdown and rather than shopping for 2 or 3 we have the upheaval of trying to bring 7 or 8 in and then we have to try and integrate them.... not sure why we allow so much upheaval in the women's ranks and I still honestly think the elephant in the room has not been addressed and until it is the unrest will continue.

How do they keep it all under the wage cap?

Interesting thread here from Swiss Ramble on wsl finances.
The salary cap is “40% of turnover, but this is fairly ‘soft’, given the turnover can include funding from the parent company. In other words, a greater share of commercial income would mean that the club could afford a higher wage bill”
In the 19/20 season Chelsea had the highest revenue at £3.3m with City recording a revenue of £2m
Chelsea also had the highest expenses at £4.9m and City second with £3.4.
City declared a wage bill of £2.1m but Chelsea didn’t reveal theirs.

She’s here exciting new signing 23 Year Old Venezuelan International Forward Deyna Castellanos:
