Its mad how 11 years has twisted that memory in my mind. I'm sure it was a thunderbolt from nowhere or maybe I'm thinking of a different player.

You might be thinking of a goal he scored against Derby at Pride Park. He scored in the end we were sat in IIRC, but I cant find it anywhere, cracking goal though :)

There's a couple that live long for me.
Brightwell at the shit pit. I was in the Stretford Paddock along the side that day and he came running back to us to celebrate.
Best City goal I have ever seen was SWP. Was a friendly against Wolves in a pre-season friendly.
Never been able to trace the actual footage. Bit like the George Weah goal when he was Milan.
Shauny picks ball up in corner flag area and runs past half the team before an amazing shot.
Memory not what is used to be.
Best goal seen scored against us was Dean Saunders at the Baseball ground.
Think Shilton was in goal, he boots it upfield and Saunders watches it come over his shoulder and hits the fucking thing first time on the volley from 30-odd yards.
Coton was good, but he never sniffed it.

I remember that Saunders one - a peach. If i recall correctly it was quite early in the game and we never looked like scoring and sloped off to a mundane 1 - 0 defeat.
Best unexpected goal from a City player i can recall was John Gidman in FA cup 3rd round away to Huddersfield ( in Mel Machin era ). 2 - 1 down in injury time and we got a free kick at the far end. It looked like it was 25 yeards out. I was screaming " dont let that red tw*t take it" and he promptly bent it round the wall and into the top corner.............queue bedlam and piss taking for ever more out of me from my mates !
