I would define an extremist as someone who...

Aims to create divide or hate between those with differing cultural values or religious faith.
Anyone who instils these ideals or preaches them/teaches them.
Those who enact in violence based on differing social/cultural/religious ideals.

Now that I like! If we could chuck out all the extremists of all religious, political, cultural and social persuasions, we could spend the whole day sitting around drinking (Fairtrade) tea and living off the larders in all the empty houses. Wonder where all those extremists would go to though?

Ok, among the arguing of various points, I think we can all agree at our sympathy for the man who died and his family and friends and what they are going through right now.

I disagree strongly with those using this incident to bash Muslims and immigrants etc.

I agree that the country and world would be a much better place without religious fundamentalists.

One guy sounds like he was born and bred in London though so where do you want to send him and why would another country be expected to take our problems off us.

And I'd rather we stop these incidents before they occur. So education and more money into the police for intelligence. At the end of the day though one or two nutjobs of any background can slip the net and end up doing something horrific. That will never change.

I remember learning about nazism in school and not being able to get my head around it. I just couldn't comprehend how millions of jews were slaughtered in what was a relatively civilised European society. I remember just thinking, wow the world was really a different place back then. Jump forward 15 years and I am now seeing extremism in my own country. I'm seeing a poor guy beheaded in a london street. I'm seeing people blaming a whole religion, and certain races. I am seeing a murder turning into a race issue and political propoganda. And all I can think is fuck, how naive was I back in school. The world isn't so different.

History repeats itself. Look how a racist political party has gained more support in this country recently. All the signs are there that shit is going to get very unpleasant soon. People are supposed to learn from history not fucking repeat it.
