Hardly ever saw the word until the last 6 months. Search for it in these forums and you'll find hundreds of entries in the search results. It's on here, it's on podcasts (Sam Lee and Mooney are rather fond of using it on their pod), and It's now rearing its ugly head on mainstream tv and radio.
Why not use a thesaurus and find an alternative and more appropriate word to use instead of thinking they sound interesting and intelligent. It's just plain laziness by journalists and broadcasters and now your ordinary Joes are starting to use it.
