If England win their group then the potential Last 16 matchup against Mexico looks absolutely awful on paper: playing a team at altitude, 4 days after playing in Atlanta (30+ degrees, 70% humidity), with a day less rest than them, and in a ground where they haven't lost for 13 years.

Not surprised that the bookies have got that as England's most likely stage of elimination.

If you think I-95 will be a tad problematic it's gonna be fuckin hilarious watching France n Senegal fans also trying to navigate downtown n midtown, PATH n Subways if the Knicks take thangs to game 6 at the garden plus Yankees are scheduled in same night...
 
No interest till the knockout stage starts 3 weeks tomorrow 28th June,16 matches from that date then I will pick my games.
 
Me and my mates used to go to the Euros and World Cup - we didn't bother with Russia or Qatar for obvious reasons but always planned to go in 2026.

The build up to this World Cup didn't bode well and then when the ticket prices were announced we decided to knock it on the head. As each day passes, I am more happy with our decision.

As if the obscene ticket prices, the travel costs, the inflated hotel costs etc weren't bad enough..........

I have just seen the Senegal training session where the ball won't bounce on the pitch -WTF?? I foresee a lot of ankle/knee injuries.

Fans are now banned from taking their own bottled water into grounds - many of which have no roof and will be 90+ degrees in the sun.

A lot of Scottish fans have just had their ESTA travel visas cancelled without explanation a few days before they depart.

What an absolute shitshow.

Just praying none of our players get injured.

No doubt that will be a fun night for the NYPD - we all know the French are world renowned for their civil obedience...
 
Just watching the 1966 final now it's amazing, just how did Bobby Charlton get that one strand of hair to stay in place. Hursts just scored off the bar, Ref over to he Russian lineman was it in "these bastards killed 20 million of my people" yards over goal. :-)
 
Had a little look at the schedule for the first time today. Didn't realise just how many games there are at wildly inconvenient times for Europe. I know we usually get a little bit of favour to make most kick off times watchable for the majority but they've just gone full fuck you with this haven't they?

Not a chance I'm watching any of the 2/3/4am games, probably not going to be watching any of the 11pm/12am kick offs either which means there are 2 watchable games from a total of 4 per day at 5/6pm then 8/9pm for the groups and half the time the best matches aren't in those slots.

Even when we get to the last 32, 8 of those games are in those shit unwatchable time slots from 11pm-4am. Last 16 has two games at 1am and quarter final has 1 at 2am.

This will be the first world cup in my lifetime where I'll only watch a handful of matches and most of the tournament will pass me by. Highly doubt they'll ever release them but reckon viewing figures will be at an all time low, expecting half empty stadiums for most of the games, extortionate prices for everything keeping fans away.

The most entertaining part could well be the potential for it to turn into a total shitshow with Trump pushing himself centre stage at every opportunity.
