Looking at the ‘welcome’ the Senegal team got I.e. a tarmac search. Can anyone guarantee the Iran team will be even allowed to land?

As for the football. The timezones are shit but I’m looking forward to the Mexico game tomorrow. Should be a great atmosphere in a football ground, not an NFL stadium

For what it’s worth, there were a lot of pictures of the Uzbek team being searched that caused a lot of uproar but Cannavaro just posted that it was totally standard and they experienced the same in the Netherlands (and other countries) and he experienced the same as a player. The tarmac searches are because they don’t go through security at the airport. Not as if there aren’t plenty of other things to be irritated about, but it seems like this one may be blown out of proportion.

I am concerned about Iran. A lot of their staff couldn’t come because they had been a part of required military training (or other reasons). I can’t imagine playing with out the proper support staff.

I have a nagging feeling Portugal has been decided as the winners already. Ronaldo would happily lift the trophy with the orange **** if the price is right.

Mad that FIFA haven't just switched Irans games to Mexico and/or Canada. THeyve had ages to make the change. As it is I can see it getting ugly in the stands too. They will come in for a lot of flack playing in America.
 
Imagine rigidly imposing your immigration policy upon the participants of an international sporting event that you are hosting and that those participants have been invited to. Performative nonsense.

Iran is playing in LA and Seattle. They’re going to have very liberal, immigrant friendly, anti-war US audiences there I would imagine - in general, I think football fans in the US are more liberal than the general population. I know in my circle of friends and colleagues there is far more sympathy for the Iran Natl Team than our govt (for which there is none) and FIFA. We’re mortified by what they are going through.
 
I watched the highlights of Hiati playing NZ. They took them to the cleaners 4.0. I have Costa Rica, Peru, Iran et al, vibes. Knowing us, The Voodoo's and Moroccans will hand us our arse, and we will beat Brazil.

Going off the pictures on ITV, it doesn’t look like the England game will be starting any time soon, if at all

I don’t know how many games will be played in Orlando but it could have an effect on group games at least
