Mean nothing.
They will sharp change their tune when they realise that their domestic leagues, and the Champions League (if it still exists then) will all be without their best players for 6 weeks.
UEFA will end up using it as a way to get the remaining 20 club leagues to drop to 18 clubs, as they have always wanted.

I think we'll find that the structure of world football will have changed beyond recognition by 2034.

I doubt that is FIFA’s motive for doing it is based on that though

Saw very little of Japan/South Korea as I was working when games were on

South Africa: hmmm... maybe 1 or 2 games
Brazil: can remember Germany thrashing Brazil and thought the Final was brilliant!

SA getting is THE most ridiculous thing ever. I understand they want to spread the sport and give it to up and coming nations and new continents but it always involves the richest countries getting it.

I predict this wont happen tbh..... Not voted for by all. Rich despotic countries getting it. EU and US not getting it. Ceferin looks a very dodgy character. Disruption, player welfare, the heat... and Its a long way off. There's a lot of news articles to be written before it happens.

From what I can recall, England did consider bidding for 2030, but the FA were already bidding for Euro 2028 with Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and chose that instead.

USA get the World Cup in 2026. The 2030 World Cup will be in Morocco,Portugal and Spain with South American countries also hosting matches some matches in that tournament.

Don't think there's a South American country that could reasonably host a full tournament to the expected standards. Even as the richest country in the region, Brazil embarrassed themselves with the state of some of their Olympic venues.

Unfortunately the model of these big sporting spectacles needs to change, it's not environmentally or economically sustainable and requires the host country/countries to spaff money on infrastructure and new stadia and then the IOC or FIFA collect all the profits.

Saudi getting the tournament keeps the circus and corruption going when it ought to have been an opportunity to change the way tournaments take place.
