Strange they didn't select him.

Tad lucky last night, i'v still got them down as winners though
Said it earlier Germany should win the world cup, but Loew can stop them. Not taking Kiessling, not taking the Bender brothers, not taking Schmelzer is just baffling. Playing the greatest full back of his generation in midfield is a waste. Why bring on an average player like Podoliski at 3-0 when you can bleed a talented youngster like Draxler.Ruhr said:blue underpants said:Whats the mood in Germany?Ruhr said:i was also very surprised not to see Kola in the match.

Germany has a tradition of poor second games in the world cup. Still it came as a surprise as the victory over Portugal was overrated in the media. But the team isn´t criticized that much, because it was such an entertaining match in the second half.
Today the media are celebrating Klose and wondering about the bad performances of Lahm (and Khedira). The whole idea of having Lahm in the midfield (and Schweinsteiger out) and four central backs is debated again

I thought Schmelzer was just not fully fit and I thought that Sven had not played a for a couple of months, but could have been taken.Ruhr said:the Bender twins, Reus and Schemlzer are injured

I did not know that Sven was still injured. Last I heard he was out for 10 weeks. Fair enough if they were still injured.Bembeltown said:supercrystal7 said:I thought Schmelzer was just not fully fit and I thought that Sven had not played a for a couple of months, but could have been taken.Ruhr said:the Bender twins, Reus and Schemlzer are injured
The twins are both injured and Schmelzer was not fit enough after just coming back from injury.
Whenever Schmelzer played for Germany he was pretty average, so leaving him at home was not really an unpopular decision I guess.
Löw took Durm instead and based on his Bundesliga season he really deserved it.
Höwedes looked pretty average so far and I would love to see Lahm as RB, Durm as LB and Schweini in CM for the match against USA. When the Schwein came on against Ghana we looked a lot better and Lahm had a horrible night in CM.
