All well and good but how do you stop worrying? How do you stop things going over and over in your mind and how do you stop waking up at 4 in the morning and not being able to sleep?

Someone above suggested meditation but if you've never done it before where do you start?

Try having a piping hot soapy bubble bath, light a scented candle, turn all the lights off, and just let yourself totally relax for 20 minutes, just thinking about......nothing.

If you wake up in the early hours and can't get back to sleep, churning negative thoughts over and over in your mind...try getting up, making a cuppa, having a read for twenty minutes until you drop off again.

"Boots" do some very good tablets called "Sleepeaze" one a night...(for short term use only)...take one a couple of hours before you go to bed, you should sleep like a baby. (No prescription needed, they cost just over a fiver)

Remember when you get up, any problems you have will still be there, so what good has it done worrying about them in bed for three hours?

^ OK, I accept this is easier said than done..:)

And finally, don't drink any stimulants like coffee, just before you go to bed.

All these things are certainly worth a try.

I've tried Kalms - they are quite good but you have to let them build up in your system - will give them another go

How do you do this "thinking about nothing". How actually can you be awake and think about nothing??!!

Rags have managed it for years.

"Help" by Oliver Burkemann.

A summary of all the self help techniques published - 99% are crap but he also identifies the genuine 1%.

And it is also very funny.
