How on Earth is Etoo a target man up fron tin the mould of Crouch, Santa Cruz, Jones, Drogba or Adebayoor?

The latter, most probably! I still think getting the likes of Eto'o is probably going to prove impossible at this stage in our development, too, unfortunately. Obviously the likes of Jones, Crouch and co. are there for the taking

well, I didn't say we should go and buy any of them, just that we could do...not the same! Personally I rate Crouch and to a lesser extent Jones, but no doubbt we can do better

Jones is EXACTLY what this club needs if we don't get Eto'o.

He's as good as Santa Cruz in the air, as good on the ground, as strong, as good at hold up and as good as releasing the ball when he needs to.

The benefit being he is nowhere near as injury prone.

I'm looking at the reasoning behind the interest and it wouldn't be to play him in a partnership. It would be to hold up and bring players in. At the right club, he would be extremely effective and I suppose Hughes is going back to basics with this musing.

There is a reason why Kenwyn Jones plays for Sunderland and is not being/ has not been linked to the Rags, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal.....

technically he's not that amazing. finishing is pretty good. ish. i dont rate him all that highly in the air, or at holding the ball up. reasonable, not terrific.

I can see where the benjani comparison comes in. i guess the best you can say is he is younger, hungrier and a tougher customer than benj, with somewhat better finishing.

RSC has so much more class and finishing power, i dont know why you wouldnt go for him every time.

Because he's closely associated with Hughes and that makes people automatically not like him. Until we sign him and he proves to be good.
