worst city defensive combination?

Alan Kernagan and Michel Vonk very poor centre backs . Kit Symonds and Tony Vaughan were really poor as well .

margetson (gk) edghill, somelli, fenton, ball, FRIGHTNING! but if we still had kk as manager then fuck the defense we'd still score more than we conceded!!!

Margetson was the worst keeper I have seen play for City . Who ever gave him a contract at City needs there eyes testing . Immel was shocking as well . These 2 were very good reasons we ended up in the 3rd tier of football .

From my memory of what I consider our darkest hour, 5-0 by United in 1994, we had Tracey in net, Edghill and David Brightwell who gave the worst performance at Left Back I have ever witnessed.

In his defence he was right footed and up against Kanchelskis, however he was slower at changing direction than the Ark Royal and all in all it was the stuff of utter nightmares!

I think that's one of the biggest myths in City history. Terry Phelan was actually playing left back in that game. It was awful nonetheless! http://youtu.be/jWYcYTX50bc

Was just about to post the same. The back 5 that night was;

Tracey, Edghill, Phelan, Vonk and Ian Brightwell

Just stopped shuddering from the memory of that one. Thanks for bringing it back!. Loved the Brightwells but your description of David is spot on even though I don't think he played in this game.

I didn't get to more than about 10 games in 1995/96 but my memory of that season was that Immel got a load of very positive press - especially early on when we kept losing and he kept facing a torrent of shots and making a lot of saves. Was he really that bad? Margo was indeed horrible - while Dibble seemed fated to suffer occasional horrible disasters, a bit like Ian Brightwell.

I take it we mean David Sommeil?
Quite liked him - thought he had potential but then proved me wrong by fading into obscurity.
Tragic end to his career too.

Kit Symons!! Worst defender I've had the misfortune of watching. So any combo with him Vaughan and Beesley

I remember that thread years ago, when several dozen Bluemoon members suddenly and collectively realised that Stephen Jordan was actually 24 and not the young academy prospect we'd been gamely forgiving for such naive performances.

I don't remember Sommeil being all that bad, he did score the first goal by a City player in a League game in the new COMS as it was then. Last minute equaliser aswell if I remember correctly !

Did Darren Wassell and Craig Russell ever play together ?

Even if the other members of the back five that day were Trautmann, Kompany and Doyle it would still have to be the worst.

Only at City could a Manager take the top scorer from the Championship and turn him into a shit full back.

add Dunney to that for a complete set of howlers!

Yeah Dunne was so fucking shite he won player of the year 4 seasons running.
Look! you've got one post more than me, so I'm going to even it up. The only reason we are where we are now is because we got rid of him.

What is more mental?

The belief that getting rid of Richard Dunne could, on its own, turn any team into league winners and Champions League regulars?

Or that a City fan could be so disparaging about such a loyal servant who was consistently such a good player?

Ohhh this ^^^^
In fairness to Frontezk that penalty given against him from Alan (cheating bastard) Wilkie, playing united in that FA cup round (5th I think) cannot under any circumstances be held against him.

-- Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:48 pm --

Brightwell brought the whole defence down to his level. A level below one of these in terms of ability
