Worst City players you remember

His hip was fucked, we were well and truly had over by Leeds on that one, and given we probably lost David Bernstein as a result of KK’s obsession with signing him, he likely had a bigger impact on the club than maybe some realise.

Personally, I can’t stand him too, but not for those reasons, one day when my girls were little, about 9 and 11 , we were stuck in a traffic jam on the M60 near Sale water park, and who pops up beside us, yes Robbie Fowler, the girls started waving and shouting “Hiya Robbie”, he just looks over, sneers at them, and winds his window up”, what a twat.

Possibly fits in with my reason tbh - as he didn't give a fuck about the club or our fans. He never looked like he wanted to be at City. Twat.

The only possible excuse I can give him is that he knew he was stealing a living from us, was a shadow of what he used to be and felt guilty about it. Doubt it though, everyone was willing him to succeed and he should at least have had time for the fans because of that.

Yes Hughes had a unlimited budget and was useless, the rest were just useless without the funds.
I suppose that's one take on it, but Hughes brought in a few decent players as well. I will accept signing RSC is a good reason for questioning his capability.

I remember our full stadium booing Charvet at one point I was still quite young at the time & wouldn't have been able to gauge his performances properly. Was he genuinely that bad?

Eliaquim Mangala, it got to the point where I would actually cover my eyes whenever he got the ball.
Certainly not in any shout for worst ever as there are are some absolute stinkers to contend with. But your post reminded me of just how fucking awful Mendy was at defending. OK, he could fire in a decent cross once in a blue moon, but that in no way excused the fact that he was defensively worse than a traffic cone.

Bearing in mind the quality of the side at the time am i alone in thinking Fernando and Javi Garcia weren't all that?.

Nothing truly dire about either of them, IMO. Not in the same league as someone like Barry Conlon, OBVIOUSLY.

The odd thing is, and I’ve never claimed in any way shape or form to have any contacts or ITK knowledge when it comes to City (although I recently found out an old work mate is a senior scout of some sort at City, so I suppose if I pushed it, I possibly could, I have no intentions of doing it though ) but, I do believe many fans, just come across the odd random encounter with information that turns out to be spot on (SWP’s back and Grealish comes to mind).

With Fowler, it was a big Leeds fan I did my ‘Gas and heating’ course with (around 2001/02), he worked at the place Leeds did their medicals/injuries/rehabilitation stuff etc, the nosey fucker had read many of the notes, heard various conversations, and told me even before our interest his hip was fucked, so when it did come about, I was pretty convinced it wouldn’t go through, why it did though, I have no idea.
