I'll explain. It's now part of the social season, like Henley, Royal Ascot, Badminton and the Chelsea FlowerShow. The music has nothing to do with it.

Was music ever the main point about Glasto?
Okay it's crucial, but equally crucial was the drugs. The crowd these days look proper lightweight. Where have all the loons gone??? Now it's all Jemimahs and Tarquins. Christ, even the fucking Shrek family go now.

It's not the most exciting line up there's ever been is it. Still some good bands there though, I've just watched Friendly Fires set and they were absolutely brilliant!

Watching White Lies at the mo on the red button and they're pretty good. Going to see Friendly Fires in town later in the year and they're good too.

I don't think the line up is THAT bad this year - there's more than enough acts to keep everyone happy surely?

Not seen much this year, but Chase and Status were awesome.
U2 are still a great band live, imo.

I'd agree with Barcon on this. As for your point, I agree a bit, but see Prestwich Blue's post - he sums it up well.

IMO, Glastonbury isn't a festival, it's an industry. And one of the few we've got left.
So good luck to it, but the whole luxury/corporate bollocks sullies it for me.
